Full Episode Summary

"Food for Thought"

Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone are watching one of the favorite TV programs on a store television. It's The Adventures of Rexington: Dog of the Yukon. The content of this program is pretty typical of this type of program. Rexington is a hero dog, who's always saving the day. He does this at the end of this episode. After the show, an advertisement comes on. It's for "Mighty Snackies," the dog food that Rexington eats on the show. Once again, it's fairly typical of that type of advertising. The advertising promises that the dog food has a "fireworks of flavor" and that by eating it that your dog can have the same mighty power as Rexington. Clifford and T-Bone are hooked pretty quickly when they hear this line. Cleo is a bit more skeptical, but she's quickly hooked when she sees the dogs on the ad who are having such fun eating the dog food. As if all of that weren't enough, there's also a parody jingle of some dogs singing "Mighty Snackies, Mighty Snackies, Mighty Snackies," so on, so on. Also, there's a billboard for the new dog food right near the store. Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone all head to Clifford's (which is rather close to the store), where they see that Mr. Bleakman next door is watching TV. The commercials are on it and it just so happens to be the dog food commercial again. The jingle plays once again. Really excited about this food, the dogs all start thinking about ways to get some. So when Emily Elizabeth comes out, they lead her towards the billboard and Cleo and T-Bone sort of point towards it. Emily Elizabeth quickly catches on that they want to try the dog food. So, she says she'll ask for parents if it's okay. It is okay and it's not long before the order comes in. The truck arrives and Clifford's huge dish is filled with the stuff. The dogs, all very excited, quickly dig in. At first, they're still excited. T-Bone says that he now has "mighty power" and tries to fly. But instead, he just ends up hitting the ground. He wonders if maybe he needs to eat more of it. But the dogs are beginning to catch on. They really don't feel any different then they do eating normal dog food. Worse, it doesn't really taste any better than regular dog food either. They wonder why they would say all of that stuff on the commercial if it's not true. They also wonder about the fact that Rexington eats it and he's so powerful. They decide that maybe Rexington is just powerful anyway and the dog food doesn't really do anything. They just said those things on the commercial to get them to buy it. They decide that from now on, they'll think about what's being said before they get excited about something just based on a commercial. That, however, still leaves the problem of the dog food. Emily Elizabeth's parents bought something like two tons of the stuff. Clifford decides that they'll just eat it. After all, it's not bad. It's just not any more exciting than regular dog food. As they continue to eat, Clifford burps. Cleo asks if he burped and Clifford says that perhaps it was an "explosion of flavor." But he's just kidding, it really was a burp.

"Friends Forever"

T-Bone is anxiously waiting for the ferry to come in. His friend, Hamburger, is coming to visit the island. T-Bone and Hamburger were friends before T-Bone ever met Clifford, but Burger moved away. Cleo comes and T-Bone tells Clifford and T-Bone about how Burger moved away. We're taken back to the past, where Burger and T-Bone are playing. One of their favorite games is to try to sneak up on each other without the other one seeing. Hamburger is a palette swap of T-Bone, he looks like T-Bone except his fur is white with patches like T-Bone's. As theyr'e playing, they hear Hamburger's human, Deputy Wilson, talking to Sheriff Lewis. Sheriff Lewis says to Deputy Wilson that he can hardly believe that he and Hamburger are going away. But since T-Bone and Hamburger don't hear everything, they think that Hamburger and Deputy Wilson are just going to be going on vacation or something. T-Bone comes to a new part of the story, when they found out the truth. The two are playing at the sheriff's office/prison. Sheriff Lewis and Deputy Wilson are out for the time being. T-Bone is small enough that he's able to go in and out of the prison bars by simply going through the cracks between them. Hamburger tries this too and is able to get through. But when he tries to get out, he's stuck. So they both have to wait until Sheriff Lewis and Deputy Wilson get back. When they return, Hamburger is freed. Apparently, this is something that has happened before. Then, Sheriff Lewis and Deputy Wilson talk about Deputy Wilson's moving away. This time, Hamburger and T-Bone hear the whole conversation. Upset by the thought of having to leave each other, they come up with a plan. T-Bone says that Hamburger can come and live at his place. This works okay, until Hamburger realizes that he'd be without his human and he doesn't want to do that. So T-Bone suggests that he go with Hamburger. But that doesn't work either because he doesn't want to leave Sheriff Lewis. The two come up with a new plan, to try to hide Deputy Wilson's suitcase. He can't leave without that. But in trying to hide it, they inadvertently end up delivering it right into his hands. Out of options, the two accept their fate. On the day that Deputy Wilson and Hamburger leave, T-Bone can't find Hamburger anywhere and he worries that he won't have one last chance to say behind. But then Hamburger sneaks up on him from behind, just like always. Deputy Wilson promises T-Bone that they'll come back and visit. Deputy Wilson and Hamburger leave on the ferry. As they leave, another ferry comes in. It's carrying Clifford. Hamburger comments on how big Clifford is and T-Bone's flashback sequence ends. He says that he thought he'd never make any new friends after Hamburger left, but he did, Clifford and Cleo. Finally, the ferry arrives and T-Bone doesn't see Hamburger anywhere. He's worried that maybe he didn't come. But then Hamburger sneaks up on him from behind, just like old times.moreless
