Ricardo Montalban on his role in this episode: "The most frightening incident was doing gun play on a Western episode called "The Mojave Kid." I had to be good with a gun and I had never shot one before in my life. I shot my leg during a rehearsal! Thank God they were blanks. I practiced and practiced and was completely exhausted the day of the shooting because I hadn't slept for days. But I did it. And I remember feeling very cocky about my fancy gun play. "I'm going to get an award for this," I said to myself. The next day the reviews came out and they were very good, but no one mentioned the gun play!"
