How much do you know about the person working next to you? From the outside, life at Mackintosh Textiles appears to run smoothly, but in a community with so many secrets to hide, things are far from straightforward. In a series of powerful, self-contained dramas, everyday life is fractured by tumultuous marriages, snatched passions, disappearing husbands and gang harassment. Clocking Off was a Red Production Company production for the BBC.moreless

  • The narrative conceit of Clocking Off is its movement between focal characters for each episode. It iss a good idea in principle but the audience engagement could vary depending on the characters involved in each different episode. Overall, a good show.moreless

    "Great"
The variation of characters within this programme makes it an interesting watch and often allows it a great deal more scope than other shows. Overall narrative cohesion can suffer slightly because of the construction but sustains a good standard most of the time.

The show is usually very well written and the actors do good turns when given the opportunity. It also has a very good style and pace that give the whole series a nice character.

I recommend approaching this on an episode by episode basis and the variation can mean you'll love one episode and hate another. Be patient and you'll find good things here.moreless
