Baseball Murder
AIRED:
Annabeth is assigned to try a case involving the death of a all star baseball player by an opposing player. Sammy's parents seem more worried about his athletic career rather than the severity of the crime.

During the investigation prior to the boy's trial, Annabeth discovers a videotape of the attack which causes her to suspect the boy's coach may have encouraged him to hit his opponent after their team lost the game. Meanwhile, Maureen's younger sister is arrested for shoplifting.

  • I just love this show!!!

    9.6
Another great one!!! Annabeth is the greatest DA I've ever seen in tv!!! She's smart, good looking, passionate, sensiteve and a damn wonderful lawyer!!! This was a great episode... Annabeth just knew there was more to tha case than just a boy getting revenge on his frind for loosing a game, and she went there and found out everything!!! She is so intuitive....

Poor Maureen, been robbed by her own sister... that must be very hurtful... and just when Maureen was starting to get close to her sister....

Great case though, a kid murdering his friend bacuse a dodgy coach was to selfish to care about his pupils...moreless
  • Lets play baseball the hard way.

Close to home still has good stories imo, the coach who isn't really nice has been used a lot of times in different series but it didn't annoy me in this episode.

Although I have seen better episodes of this series this one remains good to, I want to know what happens to the sister of one of the main characters (I can't remember her name) I thought we would see a conclusion about that this episode but since it didn't happen I think it will happen next week or the one after that.

If Close to Home continues this way it is a fun series to watch every week and maybe even own on dvd, but I found the previous 3 episodes better.moreless
  • One kid kills another.

    7.3
Great episode....I really enjoyed it. It was definitely better than last week's.

A kid bashes another kid from the opposing side with a baseball bat to the head and the boy dies, and I was shock that the parents are only interested in paying a fine....WHAT THE F***? I mean, come on, what's wrong with these people?

The case turns when we learn that the kid was incited to do the attack, (although, the coach did not say it in so many words)by his coach. It was a good twist, but I hated the fact that the killer, which is what he was only got eight years in a juvenile detention....eight years.

Maureen is dealing with personal issues this episode when her sister is arrested for shoplifting. Although, she was hesitate at first, but she was able to use her connections to get her sister's sentence reduced. After Maureen's goes to the rest room, he sister steals from her wallet.......which means, we will see more family drama.

    Overall, great episode.moreless
  • Annabeth Chase must walk a fine line between ruining a child's life, or saving it.All star player Ben Moran has been murdered by his best friend who plays on the opposing team.At first it seems for being the better player. We find out that's not the case..moreless

This episode was something 70% of America can identify with.Baseball is our favorite pastime, and most of us have run into a coach or two with the exact same motives..... winning at any cost. This episode was well cast, acted, and directed. It wasn\'t predictable, and I found myself caught up in the anguish of all concerned. I like the series, but I loved this episode.
