The civil case of Hollins v Wal-Mart Stores is aired today. More than five years ago, a South Carolina Wal-Mart location hired Bobby Randall, a registered sex offender. Not long after, a ten-year-old girl was touched inappropriately by Randall while browsing store items. The entire incident was captured on store surveillance tape. As additional evidence, a woman who spotted Randall reported to the managers that Randall had exposed himself to her daughter inside a beauty salon. The defense position is that everything that Wal-Mart had done in the hiring and retention of Mr. Randall was reasonable and according to industry standards. The plaintiff representing Maria Hollins, the mother of the ten-year-old girl, claims that Wal-Mart's actions were negligent.moreless
