    The trial of MI v. Campbell is aired today. Joshua Campbell, charged with Second-degree Murder, crashed into the police car of Officer Gary Davis, killing him instantly. The Prosecution claims that Campbell was speeding at a minimum rate of 89 miles per hour and was intoxicated. The Defense claims that the crash was not caused by Mr. Campbell's reckless driving, but rather Officer Davis' failure to keep close watch over the three-lane highway he was attempting to cross. One complication to the Defense's case is that Joshua Campbell was conviced once before, of driving under the influence of alcohol at the age of 17. mr.     The trial of WI vs. Hemphill was aired today. Pastor Ray Hemphill was brought up on charges of felony child abuse for the death of an autistic boy. Eight-year-old Terrance Cottrell Jr. died during a prayer service. Terrance's mother hoped that the church would heal his autism. Ray Hemphill, a 200-lb. man, lay on top of the boy, whom he said had demons in him causing his autism, for two hours during the exorcism. The Defense claims that an equal cause of the boy's death was the medication he was prescribed for his autistic convulsions. However a forensic toxicologist testified that the amount of the prescribed drug Geodon found in Terrance's body were well within the acceptable ranges. The Defense handling of this testimony was crucial to the substance of its case. The jury took approximately three hours in deliberation and found Ray Hemphill guilty of physical abuse. Hemphill was sentenced to 7 1/2 years, 2 1/2 years to be served in prison and 5 years on supervised release.moreless

After 33 hours over five days, the jury was unable to reach a decision on all counts in regards to Rachelle Waterman. The Honorable Patricia Collins of the Superior Court of Alaska granted the defense's motion for a mistrial. The two men convicted of actually carrying out the murder and who served as witnesses for the prosecution faced up to 99 years in prison. With regard to Jason Arrant, Judge Collins accepted the prosecution's plea bargain, imposed 99 years in jail, with 49 years' suspended sentence, 50 years to serve in prison. She did not recommend against parole, which means that he could be released in seventeen years. with regard to Brian Radel, Judge Collins imposed the maximum sentence, 99 years, zero years' suspended sentence, with all 99 years in prison.
