The mother (Lynne) and Pete agreed that feeding non-consecrated communion wafers to ducks was a "major sin." Lynne revealed that she did this in her youth. According to Catholic teaching it is not a "major sin." If the communion bread had been consecrated beforehand then it would have been a major sin.

In the scene when Pete pulls into the school parking lot he pulls his sunglasses off while telling his friend how much trouble he is in. The camera cuts to a side view and suddenly the sunglasses are back on.

In New York State, one must be 17 years of age in order to obtain a driver's license, not 16 as Pete's mother said his age is.
