  • A bluff North Countryman, Caleb Cluff, is also a hotshot police detective.

    8.5
Most TV cops are city folk, but the dog-loving Caleb Cluff, often seen striding over the bleak Northern fells, was a countryman through and through. Operating out of a small Yorkshire town - the sort of place where a veteran like Cluff knows everyone, and their little secrets, too - he applies hard-headed common sense to the solution of mysteries and is little fussed by the condescension of the big-city types who occasionally get involved in his cases. It has never occurred to Caleb to live anywhere else, and just as well, too, given how many crimes he has to solve. Leslie Sands's performance as this gritty, eccentric Yorkshireman was a delight; this show didn't run long enough.moreless
