10/30/04Host Katie Cook is taking a little time off this week, so singing sensation LeAnn Rimes is stepping in as our first-ever celebrity guest host. With a hot new single flying up the country charts, Rimes will take time out of her busy schedule to deliver the latest in country news and entertainment. With the Presidential election upon us, we wondered what country artists look for in a candidate. We'll catch up with some of country music's hottest stars including Gretchen Wilson, Alan Jackson, Montgomery Gentry and Willie Nelson about issues that are important to their lives and what they feel is important to the American people. Supergroup Diamond Rio were surprised recently with a special honor. Members were presented with the Minnie Pearl Award for their humanitarian efforts. We'll be on hand as the band is surprised during a recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry. It's autumn and time for more new albums hitting store shelves. We'll chat with hitmakers Phil Vassar and Darryl Worley about their respective new projects. Both artists are also enjoying success of new singles. 6/25/04Honoring American troops is a tradition in country music, especially during times of war. Country superstar George Strait recently helped honor the troops at Fort Campbell in Kentucky with a special free concert for members of the 101st Airborne and their families to say thank you for their service. 7/2/04With all his recent success and super-stardom, it seems like Kenny Chesney's been at the top of the country charts since he released his first single. Not so. Host Katie Cook will look back at some early interviews with the Tennessee native from his first days as a recording artist. He looks and sounds a bit different than the star he has turned into, but there's a glimmer in his eyes that proves he was destined to sit at the top of the charts for a long time. Talk about reminiscing, with the July 4 holiday upon us, we thought it would be fun to visit with stars about how it feels to perform "The Star Spangled Banner" in front of large audiences at some of the country's biggest events. Singers Martina McBride, Terri Clark, Chesney, Sara Evans and others share fun stories about experiences they have encountered when asked to sing one of the most difficult songs ever written. In this week's episode, we'll also take a look at a new Johnny Cash book released by CMT. Cash: An American Man, written by his longtime friend Bill Miller, features "a unique and personal glimpse into the life of Johnny Cash through hundreds of photographs, private letters, handwritten lyrics and his final interview, given just three weeks before his death." We'll also give fans an inside look at the Johnny Cash House in Jamaica's SOS Children's Village. Members of the Muzik Mafia have been making music around Nashville for several years, and it has not gone unnoticed. Crowds followed the singer-songwriters from venue to venue, and Music Row finally took notice. With the breakout success of Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich from the bunch, the Mafia phenomenon has taken center stage in country music. In the first of a three-part series, CMT Insider will go inside the Mafia and give fans the lowdown on the members and how it all got started. Country star Terri Clark helped get the party started and host Katie Cook was on hand to join in the excitement. Country duo Montgomery Gentry recently earned their first No. 1 hit for "If You Ever Stop Loving Me," and with a No. 1 hit, there's always a party. CMT Insider was on hand we'll take fans inside the celebration. America's best athletes are gearing up for their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of representing their country at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, Greece. When we found out two track and field athletes were big country music fans, we knew we had to wish them well. Correspondent Lisa Lee made a special visit to the Olympic training facility in Southern California to catch up with the hurdler Brenda Taylor and discus thrower Ian Waltz before they headed out and give them each a special gift from their favorite artists. As members of the Muzik Mafia continue to gain fame on the country charts, we are looking to the next generation of hopefuls to see what country music's future looks like. Several singer-songwriters in the Nashville area have dubbed themselves the Mafia Misfits, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich. 8/13/04After several years of making music in his home country of Austrailia, singer-songwriter Keith Urban moved to the United States joined a group called The Ranch and got his first record deal. The Ranch is no longer together, but Urban has continued to soar to the brink of superstardom as a solo act. This week on CMT Insider, we'll head into our vault and check out some early interviews with a younger Urban to find out what he was feeling about his art and where he thought he was headed in the music industry.

The 38th Annual CMA Awards will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tuesday, Nov. 9 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on CBS. "Having both The Early Show and CMT broadcast our CMA awards final nominees live is both an exciting addition to our traditional press conference and a further development of our on-going relationship with CBS and Viacom -- a partnership that we appreciate and value," said CMA executive director Ed Benson. 6/18/11Katie Cook and CMT Insider recaps the CMA Music Festival. Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina seemed to be the biggest hit of the week. They both attended the Grand Ole' Opry, the Softball Game and Scotty got to sing with Josh Turner while Lauren sang with Martina McBride at the LP Field concerts. Lauren said Carrie Underwood gave them her phone number and she plans on using it. Darius Rucker did his 2nd Annual Darius & Friends concert for St. Jude with guests Eastin Corbin, Rodney Atkins and Justin Moore. Keith Urban kicked off his new tour with new Staging and Technology. Keith Urban hosted Lady Antebellum for a BBQ at his house in Australia during their tour down there. Crowds stood in line for hours to get autographs by some the biggest stars including Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum. They also got to attend fan clubs parties thrown by stars like Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Joe Nichols (with special guest Dierks Bentley) and Chris Young. 6/25/11Blake Shelton is at a all time high. His hit "Honey Bee" is at it's 3rd week at #1 after only a short 10 week climb to the top position. He just said "I Do" to Miranda Lambert and he's part of the hottest show on TV - "The Voice." His latest album "Red River Blue" is set to hit stores on July 12th. Glen Campbell announced this week that he has Alheimer's Disease. He plans to release one more album and then head out on a farewell tour. Alabama did "Bama-Rising" with the help of Brad Paisley and raised 2 million dollars for the Tornado victims. Luke Bryan and The Doobie Brothers did the latest edition of CMT Crossroads and really enjoyed singing each other's music. Some concert mishaps happened this week, Keith Urban stumbled on his new stage while Tim McGraw kicked a guy out from his show for pushing a lady in front of him. Also, Miranda Lambert came out during one of Blake's tour stops to have the crowd sing him Happy Birthday. Adam Black took us to Garner, NC hometown of Scotty McCreery for this week's Bing Home Town Search. Martina McBride raised $150K during her celebrity auction for the YMCA Female Shelter. The dress she wore at the Grand Ole Opry return special brought in the most - $27K. Kristin Chenoweth is going back to her roots and released her first country single and video. Alison previews Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon and interviews stars Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and newcomer - Rosie Hungtington Whiteley. 1/7/12Tim McGraw's "Emotional Traffic" album will finally see the light of day on January 24th when Curb will release it after a long and still ongoing legal battle with Tim. The holidays saw quite a few engagements in the Country Music family including Wynonna Judd, Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum, Lee Brice and Daney Gokey. Katy Perry wrote a country tune titled "Bullet" for Jesse James debut album and the demo track has hit the web. Demi Livato also tweeted that she has wrote her first country tune. Nora Jones has created a country band named "The Little Willies" and released an album. Kourtney Hansen sat down with Taylor Swift on the set of her latest music video - "Ours" and discussed how she came up with the concept of the video. Also on the set of Lee Brice's new video for "A Women Like You" which was partially shot in a fancy highrise condo in Nashville. Final numbers were released for 2011 record sales and some of the big sellers included Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum. Garth Brooks still remains the top selling solo artist of all time with 68 million albums sold. Dolly Parton is in a new movie titled "Joyful Noise" with Queen Latifah and Katie Cook sat down with Dolly to talk about the role. CMT Chronicles goes back to 2006 when Sugarland got their first Top 5 hit with "Baby Girl."

Faith Hill sang "Come Home" on the People's Choice Awards. Taylor Swift may star in the film version of "Les Misarbles." Keith Urban wrote a song for an upcoming major motion picture, the song will play during the credits. Blake Shelton did the cover of Redbook magazine recently. David Nail is celebrating his first #1 song with "Let It Rain" which took 40 weeks to hit the top spot. Miranda Lambert will be starring in one of her favorite TV shows - "Law and Order." Hunter Hayes will be opening up for Rascal Flatts on their upcoming tour and is nervous about their prank repretation.
