CNN Reliable Sources

Show Summary

CNN Reliable Sources is a cutting edge news program that examines in detail the role media plays in major news stories. Starting out with a thorough examination of Persian Gulf War coverage in the 1992, host Howard Kurtz has been putting the press on the firing lines, and coming out with guns blazing. He dissects news stories to determine whether fellow journalists have played any part in making them more volatile, or whether the reporting escalated particular issues. Major points Kurtz has taken on throughout the years have included coverage of the Iraq War, the controversial outing of Deep Throat, and how much of a role Judith Miller played in the CIA leak case. And while he puts members of the media on the spot, in the spirit of a show about uncovering truth, Kurtz lets the accused members of the press defend themselves against allegations that they heightened or agitated any stories in the segment Talk Back. The daring program, which has featured interviews with figures such as Jon Stewart, Rush Limbaugh and George Clooney is available via podcast, for viewing online or download. As long as news reporting exists, Kurtz and CNN Reliable Sources will be there with a clipboard and a stern look to make sure it's following the rules.moreless
