When Kelly returns from New York for a Thanksgiving visit she is no longer the insecure misfit that had left. Instead she is a success and it grinds on no ones nerves as much as Hayden's.
Kelly returns bearing expensive gifts for everyone, talks extensively about her new apartment, glamorous job and high class New York. Impressing everyone is easy it seems except her father who accuses her of showing off and acting like she is better than everyone else.
Kelly admits in the end that she was showing off but only to get his approval. She had always yearned for her father's approval owing to the fact that she was a girl and with Hayden's competitive, sometimes Neanderthal like thinking she always thought he would have appreciated a son instead of a daughter. Classic comedy at it's best.
