Cocaine Cowboys

Show Summary

Cocaine Cowboys, inspired by Billy Corben’s 2006 documentary film of the same name, is a new show still under development by HBO with a yet-to-be-released premiere date. Set in Miami during the mid 1980’s, Cocaine Cowboys covers the notoriously wild drug trafficking that occurred during that time. Due to a combination of rising cocaine imports from Colombia as well as with a nationwide economic boom, the enormous amount of drugs smuggled into Miami during the ‘80’s turned the city into a mecca for drug traffickers and was almost solely responsible for giving the city the reputation as a hedonistic playground. Helmed by legendary producers Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer, Cocaine Cowboys is guaranteed to contain all of the excess and extravagance that typifies the drug culture in that era, though, with episodes written by both David Cypkin and Billy Corben, the show promises to be deeply rooted in fact as well. Cocaine Cowboys will be Bruckheimer’s first show at HBO. His other series, CSI and Without A Trace, both appear on CBS.moreless
