  • Finally! A new episode of "Codename Kids Next Door" came on! :D It's about time to!

It's been so long since anything has been heard of from this T.V. show, I was worried Cartoon Network got rid of it without a proper farewell! But now I can safely say that it turned out to not be the case! In the first segment, the Kids Next Door prove their toughness by playing ball with a cinder block! Too bad it lands in a haunted dog house! But Number 5 is brave and she won't let the threat of dog spirits frighten her! But maybe she Should be frightened because something weird is happening to the homework that the Kids Next Door do during the night. While Number 4 isn't the smartest kid in the world, he's still smart enough to know that nobody has the right to steal something that he worked really hard on! So he put a homing signal on his backpack with his homework inside, and he follows it to the haunted doghouse, where Number 5 is trying to retrieve Number 4's homework for him! But Number 4 proves that he has a heart of gold and vows to help her out, and he does! And a good thing to, because Number 4 brought along just the right thing to deal with Were-dogs who eat other kids homework: Badly done homework with incorrect answer! The Were-dog kids don't stand a chance, but the same can't be said for Mrs. Thompson! Fortunately Number 4 has an ace up his sleeve and tricks Mrs. Thompson into revealing her own weakness! Ironically enough, it was only when Number 5 turned into a Were-dog that she was able to beat Mrs. Thompson and free her and all the kids from the Were-dog curse! Then it looks like Number 3 and Number 4 are going to be spending some quality time together. But the time might end up to be unpleasant when the two of them land on a planet inhabited solely by living, breathing Rainbow Monkeys, which for Number 4 is the worst! Can they get off?! Find out in this great episode! Enough said, true believers! ;)moreless
  • P.L.A.N.E.T. - Numbuh 3 & 4 get launched into space to break the "ridiculous" speed barrier, but end up on a planet where Rainbow Monkeys walk, talk, and behave like humans. In the end they discover they're just back on Earth in an amusement park.moreless

I have to say I was rather disappointed with this episode.

With all the buzz and the rumors, I expected that just maybe this would be it. That Numbuh 4 would finally admit to Numbuh 3 that he cares about her.

To be fair it's to be expected that the creators didn't have Numbuh 4 make his confession - keeps the drama going - but when Numbuh 2 said "You HAVE to tell her" and the KND-Scientist gave Numbuh 4 that transmitter to talk to Moonbase I thought for sure he was going to end up making his confession with all of launch control listening.

Besides that let-down it was actually a decent episode. The "Planet of the Apes" parody was clear, and the ending was original in that it wasn't expected.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • The mechanic seen at the Rainbow Monkey theme park in Operation: P.L.A.N.E.T. is the teenager from Operation: P.O.I.N.T. who was going to take a girl on a date; the same teenager Numbuhs 1 and 3 were eavesdropping.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Miss Thompson (as a were-dog): Any questions? (Numbuh 4 ooh-ingly raises his hand) Yes, Wallabee?
Numbuh 4: How do you cure chronic "were-dogalism"?
Miss Thompson: Agood question. First, you have to destroy the queen were-dog--That's me. But the only way to do that isby removing the cursed necklaceI'm wearing. I...probably shouldn't have told you that.

    • Miss Thompson: And that, class, is why you should never accept a necklace from your angry ex-husband.

    • Numbuh 2: That doghouse is haunted! They say you can hear the ghosts of dogs howling in there at night!
Numbuh 5: Who is "they"? (Numbuhs 2 & 4 point at each other)Figures!

    • Numbuh 2: (yanking Numbuh 4 by the arm) Look, Numbuh 4! You two are going to be alone with her in that rocket for like a bamillion hours. You have to tell her.
      Numbuh 4: WHAT! No way!
Numbuh 2: You can't keep putting it off. She needs to know.

    • Numbuh 4: That's it! (turning to face Numbuh 3) I have been trying to tell you something all day and it can't wait any longer! (romantic music starts to play) Numbuh 3...I...I...
      Numbuh 3: Yes...!
Numbuh 4: (takes deep breath) You've got a popcorn kernel in your teeth! It's been there since this morning and I thought you should know!

  • NOTES (5)

    • D.O.G.H.O.U.S.E. stands for Desperate Operative Grabs Homework Outta Unusually Spooky Environment.
P.L.A.N.E.T. stands for Poor Little Astronauts Never Expected This.

    • Operation: D.O.G.H.O.U.S.E. is a Numbuh 4 and 5 episode.
      Operation: P.L.A.N.E.T. is a Numbuh 3 and 4 episode.

    • End Credits Scene: Numbuh3 and 4 walking back to the treehouse only to discover Rainbow Monkeys on the treehouse.

    • Throughout Operation P.L.A.N.E.T., Numbuh 4 tries to tell Numbuh 3 something, which we all assume is that he's in love with her. But it turns out that all he wanted to say is that she has a popcorn kernel stuck between her teeth.

    • The Rainbow Monkey Planet turned out to just be a Rainbow Monkey-themed amusement park.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • The Lost World: The scene where Numbuh 4 is walking through the long grass and numerous 'things' are closing in on him is taken right out of Steven Spielberg's second Jurassic Park movie.

    • Planet of the Apes
In Operation: P.L.A.N.E.T., Numbuhs 3 and 4 seem to find themselves on a Rainbow Monkey planet, based loosely on the 20th century French novel by Pierre Boulle, which was made into a major movie and TV franchise in the United States beginning in 1968, the first of which starred Charleton Heston. Numbuh 4 uses a line similar to the original movie when he says "Keep your cruddy paws off me you darn, dirty monkeys".
