Lilly: I'll be ready, sir. Stillman: Good, because you'll be the first female homicide detective in the Philly Police Department. Lilly: I can handle myself. Stillman: I knew that a long time ago.
Stillman: Long night. Lilly: Can't piece it together. Stillman: The story. Lilly: What you always told me. Stillman: Ask the right questions 'till the story makes sense. So what's the right question?
Stillman: I have a few guys set to retire next couple of years. I could use somebody with your instincts and determination. Lilly: Homicide? Stillman: You interested? Lilly: Of course, sir. Stillman: Well, learn your job at East, do it right. I'll keep an eye out, and we'll talk when the time comes.
Kate: (about the other cadets) You said it yourself. They hate me. James: Well, then, let them see the other side of you. The side that I see. Don't just prove to them that you can hack it. Prove to them that you belong.
Vera: (to Lilly after the accident) You'd do anything to get out of that bucket of bolts, wouldn't you?
The letter that Lilly's father wrote to her: Dear Lilly, There are two sides to every story Neither of which I think you'll find satisfactory Suffice it to say there's no way I could've stayed with your mother and survived In that sense you're already stronger than me I was a lousy father When I got sober enough to figure out how much I missed it was to late to undo the damage Much to my regret I'll always be the dad who bought you a bike But never thought you how to ride it There were a few moments that I tried to reconnect along the way But you were on your own path by then Your own woman And you turned out great, kid I missed so much of your life For that I am sorry Not only to you but for depriving myself all those times you needed a father, somebody to protect you When you showed up that day at the park all these years later My heart jumped out my chest I thought maybe you came to judge me 'til I realized I'm the only parent you've got left Like it or not, you only get one father Just know if there's ever another moment in your life when you need me, I will be there! (revealed only in Closed Captioning) I am so proud of you Lilly
