At the end of this episode, I was in tears. Of course, the Don Henley song "End of the Innocence" may have had some effect, but I think what was biggest was that the grandson, who had for all these years been burden with keeping the secret that his girlfriend and love of his life had suffocated his grandmother, also feeling guilt for not having been able to stop the girlfriend, is able to hold and attend a proper burial service for the grandmother, which was his wish from the very beginning of his calling in the crime to Lilly. Although his heart was broken, he had his brother by his side, and he was able to pay respect to the grandmother he had loved. This was really moving, and these nice endings are which I really love about this show.moreless

I loved this episode so much and I gave it a 10 to show. I just wish that Danny Pino was in the episode. I especially enjoyed the plot in this episode. I have always found Cold Case interesting and different from other crime programme and I think that it is that difference that makes the show really great. There was a little bit of character development particularly from Rush. I liked that you could see her getting personally involved with James. Toward the end she started to look like she really cared for him and because of that her passion for her job really shows. An amazing episode.moreless

This show will indeed become a series episode classic as
The murderer calls Lily's cell phone number and tells her
That he murdered an elderly woman back in the late 1970's but this is where it starts to get interesting as he refuses to reveal himself to the cops. And we have to play and keep up with this game along with the cops! Very suspenseful!

    • Title: Sherry Darlin' The episode title is a reference to the song Sherry Darling by Bruce Springsteen. The song tells about a young man's frustration with having to help his mother when all he wants to do is be with his girlfriend, Sherry. Edit
    • In the opening scene, James tells Krystal that the televangelist program on TV is a scam. This is a reference to televangelist Jim Bakker who in 1989 was convicted of fraud and conspiracy for stealing donations and defrauding investors. Edit
    • Sherry Stephens: You can see Nirvana any time. In 1989 (the year this episode's crime took place), Nirvana had released their first album, Bleach. Presumably the tickets Sherry mentions are for a Nirvana concert. Edit
