  • A different scenario inspired by concurrent series gives to this long-timed show a new air bubble.

After more than one hundred episode, the Cold Case serie presents sometimes a little breathlessness. Indeed, the scenario web is almost always the same: to interrogate some witness , to discover their lies and finally to confort them in order to solve the case. But this episode is different and gives another way. A luminous way because this time one victim could be alive. Some could say that this scenario seems more correspond to a Crimnal Minds ones and we can't denie it, but it's a new air bubble to this long-lived serie. A good surprise and a new way of investigation for the Lilly Rush's team.
  • greatest episode of season 5 (and ever?)

wow. wow. Words cannot express how amazingly amazing this amazing episode is. The killer/doer is the worst sob since George in "Mindhunters" and "The Woods". He kidnapps women, locks women up in dungeons, breaks their spirits then brick-walls them in when all hope is gone, unlike previous serial-killer episodes. Another unique aspect of this episode was the fact that Scotty and Lilly went to get him ("John Smith")but on the way back they got to talk to him and find him victim, in the process, though, they discover multiple victims. They discovered him mentality and the reasons why he killed (I think when he was younger he saw a woman drowning liked it, and didn't do anything). Overall, this is the most chilling episode of one of the best seasons. Everyone should watch it. Maybe no more than one time since it's so powerful, so just once is enough.
  • A bride-to be disappears during her engagement party. Lilly and Scott drive the villian to West Virginia hearing his side of the story.

This is by far one of my favorite episodes. It is different than other episodes in that you know who did it from the beginning. This villian is one of the more crazy ones in this series. The interaction between Lilly, Scott, and the villian are great and you get to see a different side of Lilly They each had something to live for or something to hold on to but every one of this victims have eventually "broken", until Brenda. This episode is also different in that the ending is sweet as opposed to the typical bittersweet ending we are used to.
  • Lilly and Scotty are interogating a suspect that seems to recognise the things, the "delusions" like he says, that some women hold on, and when these things are taken away they give up... But...

"She didn't broke... even all is taken away from her, she still had herself..." Lilly's words about Brenda in the end is the meaning of what is called "hope" and "keep fighting"... Lilly, herself, believes that their victim is alive and she finally matches the information. "You found her, Lil", admits Scotty without any need for his protection finally, even it's pretty obvious that he cares for her, a lot. She herself finds "hope".

Yes. There are things that everyone holds on, love, family, God, job... That's not bad. The only thing maybe is that you shouldn't overdo it. Lilly's loneliness is pointed...

But these: Love, family, God, job...? Are they "delusions"? Who knows?... But hope? No. You stay alive holding on hope, because it is the only that remains and only if you are strong enough to find it...

What else to say apart from agreeing that this episode is the best of the best?
  • One of the greatest episode

Oh my God!!! In my opinion that was the one of the greatest episodes ever!!! I was really suprised and very happy when they found this woman alive! and of course the song in the final scene was great!!! I think that this episode was a little different than others but just for this reason it was very interesting:) I really like Scotty`s reaction when John Smith ask him: " Did you have any piece of her?" - maybe he was thinking about that:)the final scene when Brenda met her fiance was great and made me cry!I think that this episode was very emotional and it showed something more about Lilly`s emotions. Sorry for my english but I can`t speak english very well:)
  • The greatest Lil centered episode EVER!

I can say nothing but good things about this episode... for instance it is the one and only episode of cold case that I donwloaded and burned into a cd... cuz I knew I would need to watch it over and over again... "Once hope is gone, dying is just a formality".. really creepy guy.. and one heck of a people reader, he got Lil all figured out in like a second.. he said absolutely everything she was feeling.. and it was times during the episode when you just wanted to punch his guts... but in the end, thanks to him Lily realizes she still has hope... and that she can't live just for work... It's a great character development episode... Lily finally reacts and it is amazing. Plus, we get to see how much Scotty cares about her, even though there's not one line that shows it.. I love how the writers can put all that so tacitly.. This episode right here is one of the many reasons why I love Cold Case.

A great Lily centered episode with one of the most chilling bad guys in the shows history. This episode about a man who holds hostage women till their spirits break and then walls them up alive in room was horrendous. The criminal was the worst since the woods a bad guy with a rare amount of malevolence. Lily's vulnerable side being totally devoted to her job due her personal life's void was played quite well and Scotty got to show some emotion pushed to his limits by the psycho's taunts. On another pleasant note Lily and the team used a good amount of detective work to solve the case. Good episode with everything we like about Cold Case and actual cop show foot work to solve the case.
  • Different story for once!

Usually the team investigates "cold cases" which have been there for like ages. But this time, they go back one year though not old, still will give anybody goosebumps. Scotty and Lily in the car, interrogate a serial killer known as John Smith to see if one of the victims is really alive and not dead. As usually it starts the show off with someone being dead but this time, it didn't start off that way. That person ended up being alive and that being reunited with her soon to be husband, was really great. As this is one of the rare occasions, I mean very rare, that someone ends up alive!
  • The team takes on a serial killer who obsesses over women he sees in videos he edits. He tortured his victims by completly cutting them off from the world and secluding them into chambers. Lily and Scotty search for a victim that may still be alive

Great episode. The episode of course started out like any, showing us the victim in a happier time before the disappearance.

The different thing about this episode was that it started without a dead body, giving us a sense that for once one of our victims may be alive. The villian of the episode was down right creepy. Everytime I saw some of his flashbacks it sent chills down my spine. Overall the episode was one of the best of the year and always one of the most disturbing of the year. The man was down right creepy and sick. But the interaction between him, lily, and scotty was undeniable.

The happy ending with Lily finding Brenda alive and her reuniting with her fiance made for one of the best tear jerker moments of the series!
  • The team saves one - after she saves herself.

I've only become a recent fan of Cold Case, I was initally drawn by some of the scripts. This episode proves my point. This script was excellently plotted and written. I loved the fact of which the team figures out piece by piece exactly what they are dealing with in regards to the case. They start with one victim and end up with four. The personal aspects of this case where obvious but underlying which I think was great. As always the case/victims are the focus. The road trip aspect was very creative and I'm sure is done in real life. It gives detectives a perfect oppotunity to break a case wide open which is exactly what was done here. I loved that the team was able to save someone, because with what their jobs entail, they are usually too late. This might just give them a reason to get out of bed in the morning, to make a difference for their victims and themselves.
  • This week's case was not too cold but it gave me goosebumps.

I have to say that I was a little worried about this show after last week's poorly researched episode about the deaf community. However, this episode was not a disappointment. It begins with a flashback of an engagement party. Flashforward one year and the cold case team has been notified that a suspect has been identified. Rush and Valens travel to W. Virginia to bring the suspect back. They take the scenic route back to question him while the rest of the team tracks down leads and feed the information to Valens and Rush. They soon realize they are transporting a serial killer. Damon Herriman does an excellent job as the killer - John Smith. When he first mets Lilly, he gave me the creeps with the way he looked at her. The scene at the well had me at the edge of my seat. I thought someone was going to be pushed in! I won't give away the ending but I really enjoyed it. If you were disgusted with last week's episode, don't give up on the whole show - this week's episode was worth the time.
