Eve Kendall was murdered August 16, 1986.
A funny coincidence (or not): the murdered girl was named Eve, while her boyfriend's last name was Adams.
Highlight below for a minor spoiler:
ADA Jason Kite breaks up with Lilly in this episode.
Nash Cavanaugh was killed on May 15, 1999.
Goof: There is a period music error in the 1985 scene where Linda tells Vic she is pregnant. The music for the scene is Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison. This song was not recorded until 1988.
Lilly went to high school together with Lindsey Dunlay, the psychologist in this episode.
Rebecca Morgan was murdered on October 11, 1989.
Goof: Right at the beginning, when the camera tilts over to young Sean crying in his mother's blood, you can clearly see the dead body blinking.
Charles Danville died on June 21, 1985
Vanessa Prosser was murdered on November 3, 1992.
Goof: A boom mike is visible during the scene where ADA Kite kisses Det. Rush.
Hemophilia (or haemophilia) is a hereditary genetic illness which causes the sufferers blood not to clot if s/he is cut or injured. The gene causing the condition is always carried by the mother's X-chromosome, but only sons are affected. The condition is incurable but can be controlled with modern medicine.
Nitpick: Although women − if they possess the affected gene − are often symptomless carriers, it is possible, albeit very rare, for a female to suffer from mild versions of the disease. This is exactly what happened in this episode; Vanessa Prosser inherited the affected gene from her hemophiliac biological father, and an unaffected gene from her healthy mother.
Greg Cardiff died on January 1, 2000.
Nitpick: Det. Rush uses her cell phone in Mel's hospital room where he was on monitors. It is common knowledge that cell phones interrupt monitors and are forbidden in hospitals.
In this episode, we find out that Scotty's girlfriend Elisa is schizophrenic.
Nitpick: (highlight below for a spoiler)
If the car hit Greg's head while he was lying sick on the road, wouldn't an autopsy or even a simple look of Greg's body note that there was only damage to his head, leading to the conclusion that the only way the car could have hit him there was if he was already lying on the road? If he had truly been hit while crossing, there would have been damage to his legs or torso.
Goof: When Scotty is talking to Big Ed, he puts the cue ball in a curved box. In the next shot, the cue ball is back on the pool table.
Herman Lester was murdered on March 11, 1987.
Nitpick: When Lilly is smoking with Adam Clarke, she holds the cigarette above the filter and at times in the middle of the cigarette. Regular smokers will always hold it by the filter to avoid being burnt.
This episode marks the first appearance of Scotty Valens' girlfriend Elisa (Marisol Nichols) to whom he has been heard talking on his cell phone in previous episodes.
