John Doe: (to Lilly) You were in the newspapers last year. You caught that serial killer.
This is an obvious reference to George Marks (played by John Billingsley), the murderer that was caught in episode 2-23: The Woods.
Steve Jablonski died on June 7, 1980.

The final shot in the church reveals that Ana hid the missing pellets under a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Ana Castilla was killed on September 28, 1998. On her case file you can see that her occupation was florist and that her mother's name was Maria Castilla.
In the casting version of the script, Roween's mother's name was Gena instead of Mary and Darla Dunaway's first name was Carla. Additionally, when Julious first comes to the bank, Roween is reading Passage to India by E.M. Foster instead of Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
Lilly remarks that Roween was "30 years, 3 weeks" when she died. Her birthday was on January 6, 2000 -- a Thursday. The bank heist took place 3 weeks later on a Friday. This means that Roween Ryan was killed on January 28, 2000.
We finally get to meet Lilly's motorcycle-riding ex-love, Ray Williams (played by Brennan Elliott).
Goof: About halfway through the episode there's a scene in which Scotty, Lilly and Lt. Stillman exit the police department building. In a close-up Lilly is wearing a thin blue scarf that wasn't on her in the wide angle shot. In a cut of just Scotty and Lilly, the scarf is gone again, but when Ray arrives, a close-up of Lilly shows her wearing the scarf one more time.

In the episode that aired, we never find out why Emma's father was in the hospital and got pulled from the moon shot. In the original script, Emma reveals to Travis that her father started hallucinating during a sensory deprivation test and didn't recover from it.
Emma Vine was killed on December 14, 1968.

Although Det. Vera (and his gutter mind) suspected that Kat Miller's mystery meetings on Wednesdays would have something to do with her being gay, it turns out that Kat has a daughter, whose ballet classes she has been attending every Wednesday evening. According to the original version of the script, the episode would have ended with all Miller, Jeffries, Vera, and Valens watching the dance recital. In the version that aired, Miller's daughter's name is not revealed, but in the original script the card attached to the flower bouquet Miller is carrying would have read "Veronica" -- the name Vera overheard previously.
Trevor Dawson died in May 1994.
Clem Garris was killed in January 1988.
This is the first episode in which Lt. Stillman's ex-wife Rita (played by Laura Johnson) is seen.
We get the first look of Lilly's cats Olivia and Tripod since episode 1-12: Glued. We also hear more about Lilly's motorcycle-riding first love.
Goof: In the opening scene, the teenagers are listening (and singing) to the song No Surrender in the car. The caption says it's June 6, 1980. No Surrender is from the album Born in the U.S.A., which was not released until 1984.
Nitpick: It has been questioned how May re-registered the stolen Chevy for 18 years. Since she obviously was living on the fringe of law-abiding society and even had a small-potatoes criminal record, it's doubtful she cared too much about whether the car was street legal.
Nitpick: The color of Petey's eyes changes from green to blue from the 1980s to the 2000s. Similarly, the present day May has blue eyes but the younger actress has brown eyes.
Nitpick: There is a mention that the day Frank DiCenzio died, December 11, 2001, was a Monday. However, December 11, 2001 fell on a Tuesday.
In this episode we learn that Lilly's father abandoned them when she and her sister were young.
