Episode Summary

EDIT
Thirteen-year-old Kevin Lane disappeared on June 6, 1979. Years later, his parents discovered that his former baseball coach Harry Walters was really pederast Martin Woodridge, his mother became convinced that Woodridge murdered her son and hid the body. Woodridge insists that he is all about consenting actions between adults and young adults, insisting that he has never forced anyone to do anything they didn't want to. After the Lanes offer a $100,000 reward for information, Woodridge comes forward and points the finger at himself. Although Ali would love to lock him up and throw away the key, she just can't do it.moreless

      • (While on a stake-out watching Dave White.)
Mickey Kollander: Do you know that Ali, Christine and I have the same menstrual cycle?
Frank Coscarella: (creeped out) I hope that doesn't happen to us.

      • (Rationalizing his relationship with Glen to Ali.)
Martin Woodridge: Ms. McCormick, a 14-year-old boy falls in love with a 30-year-old schoolteacher, and no one questions the validity of the boy's desires. But if a boy falls in love with a man, then that man's got to be a predator. He's got to be a molester.

      • (Said to Woodbridge in the elevator.)
Ali McCormick: We all have desires. They make us human. Rising above them makes us moral. Respecting them makes us civilized.

    • NOTES (1)

      • This case bears an uncanny resemblance to the case of John Robin Sharpe, a British Columbia resident who went as high as the Supreme Court to defend his right to possess child pornography. The ruling, as of 2002, is that it is legal in Canada to write or possess child pornography that is created as long as no real children are used.
