No one ever says how Caddy became Caje. It only a guess that after his friend was killed someone started to call him Caje. But it don't tell us how his last name got change to Lamay. Personally I like the change.

The flashback sequences used in this episode are actually from the unaired pilot that was filmed for ABC. The pilot took six days to shoot, finishing on December 23, 1961. Notable differences between the pilot and the series include Hanley as a Sergeant First Class, and Caje being called "Caddy".
