  • Pierre Jalbert grows before your very eyes! This episode provides an excellent opportunity for Jalbert to develop Caje. He takes the character to a new level.

Guest stars get to shine each time they come on, but frequently series regulars fell deeply into a rut from which they are powerless to escape. One of my favorite aspects of this series is that, every once in a while, they threw a feature episode to one of the regular cast. This practice not only builds series loyalty among viewers but it also goes way beyond simply throwing an infrequent bone of backstory, personality depth, etc., to the regular, non-starring, character cast. In short, it makes a better show. Here Pierre Jalbert demonstrates the growth of his acting chops (he started out with two and three word phrases) as well as showing us several new aspects of Caje. He builds our understanding of what makes Caje tick: what drives him as he grapples with new challenges and emotions that are at odds with his role as the "best soldier in the squad".moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Goof: Near the end of the episode, as the Germans are strafing a building with bullets, Caje and Saunders run to a brick wall. Caje gets up to run to help the people in the building, and loses his helmet. After Saunders calms him down, they agree to go after the Germans "first". Caje retrieves his helmet, puts it on backwards and runs to the German half-track. When he gets there, the helmet is on correctly.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Hanley: Did he pull guard duty last night?
      Saunders: No.
Saunders: (to Hanley) Let me handle it.
      Hanley: You've been handling it.
Saunders: Maybe not in the right way.

    • Saunders: Did I ever tell you about the boy who kept hitting himself on the head with the hammer?
      Caje shakes his head no)
Saunders: I asked him why he kept doing it. He said it feels so good when I stop.
      Caje: Very funny.
Saunders: Why do you keep hitting yourself?
