It is an incredibly emotional episode--the only one I remember from watching COMBAT! as a child. Vic Morrow's performance stands out. As i recall, the young french girl works her way into the affections of Morrow and is sadly killed. Her presense seems to soften the Morrow character--and one sees what the character would be like outside of war. Morrow's reaction to her death and the level of his grief is incredibly powerful. COMBAT! was my favorite show as a young boy (probably as it was for most children of WWII vets), and this episode is the only one I specifically recall over 40 years later.
