Country boy Moseby Lovelace joins the squad. He shows up with a new style of boots that Saunders keeps trying to buy from him thoughout the episode. A Georgia boy still stuck in the U.S. civil war, he\'s always complaining calling the others \"Yanks\" and wondering why they have to dig and hide in a foxhole when they should stand up and face the enemy.
Out on patrol, Moseby decides to take his boots off the wade accross a creek and of course gets yelled at by Saunders. Moseby, wanting desperately to kill some Germans, gets yelled at again by Saunders when he almost throws a grenade at a passing German unit. Yet again, Moseby gets yelled at by Saunders AND Hanley for killing two German motorcyclists. On the way back, a lagging Moseby again takes his boots off at the creek. This time however, he forgets them after hearing gun fire ahead. He finds the squad pinned down from a German machine gun nest and decides to flank and take out the nest. On the way he encounters and kills a German and uses the Germans gun to take out the nest. Moseby goes back to get his boots when he sees four Germans at the creek with his boots. The Germans figure the owner of the boots will be back to get them so they sent one German accross the creek and the others hide. Moseby sees this happen and captures the one across the creek. He then uses the captured German and takes the rest prisoner. He loses two prisoners on the way due to a mind, but shows up at camp with the other two prisoners and ends up hero of the day.
I find this episode interesting in the fact that Saunders hasn\'t settled into his character yet. He\'s humorous, friendly and almost a buddy to the guys in the squad. This is not the Saunders we all come to know and love in the rest of the series.moreless
