In July's issue of SPM, they had devised a 0-10 scale to show how funny a show is by using scientific methods, hi tech computers, think tanks, focus groups and complex mathematical equations. I was surprised to see they included this obscure Canadian show on the scale.
Iread the article to see why it was included. Chief scientist, Dr. Plovokivic says, " We used Comedy Inc. as the base for the scale, anything is funnier than it. We then went onto set the scale using the collected data. The reason we choose (Comedy inc.) was because it was the most unfunny show our focus group has ever seen. Some of the responds to the show include, "This show makes me feel sad." ,"It is almost like the show was written by a computer that can't comprehend humor and acted out by a bunch of monkeys.", "Why didyou makeme watch a documentary on malfunctioning robots?", "I stopped watching the show after5 minutes, the flickering exit sign just stole my attention.", "I blacked out for 20 minutes."
After imputing the data into the super computer, we try to put comedy Inc into the computer to see where itwas on the scale. Amazing, and against all logic, (Comedy Inc.) scored a -44. After months of analysis, testing and calibration we found this to be indeed accurate. Shows like Meet the Press received a 0.5, Law and Order a 1.1, Good Morning America 2.1 and the View with 2.5. Even show that were not intended to be funny were receiving higher,positive scores. This lead to a long and costly investigation to Comedy inc.
We discovered that the showwas not only unfunny, but it stole funnyness from other shows in its proximity. Much like a comedic blackhole, any show placed before it or after it would instantly not be funny. We discovered that shows with an accumulated rank of 13 would need to preceded the showand shows with an accumulated rank of31 would need to follow the show to "neutralize" the unfunnyness. This effect is called the Clyde Grandwell Effect or more commonly called Comedy Incing. The effect of the negative funnyness is so strong, that even an advertisement of the show during the break can render a show ranked 10 to become a rank of 0 funnyness.
The show is relatively contained. It only appears on Canadian network CTV and through extensive research we have determined that it is near definite that it will never air on US or any other network. It is also highly unlikely that anyone or thing from the show will go on to infect other shows, movies, books, video games, comedy stages, plays, musicals, vareity shows, radio talk shows, internet blogs and/orinternet vlogs."
