Show Summary

Comics Only is a variety show originally broadcast from 1991 to 1992 on Comedy Central, a cable television network dedicated to comedy programming. The series consists of one-hour episodes, with one episode airing each week. Each episode features routines from stand-up comedians, with other comedians as the intended audience. These routines are often more offensive than the performers' mainstream acts. Guests on the series include major stars such as Jim Carrey and David Spade. Additional guests include Michael Dugan, Jeffrey Joseph, Fred Stoller, Willy Parsons and Tommy Sledge. Host Paul Provenza and co-host Fred Wolf also interview the guests about their careers, focusing on how they got their start in comedy. Provenza is a veteran stand-up comedian and comedy writer who provides most of the written material for the show. Additional writers include Len Austrevich and Keith Kaczorek. The series is produced by Mark Farrell, and Eric L. Gold is the executive producer.
