"Soul Mates" made us eager to eventually find out exactly what happened to drive Wes and Travis apart. read more

  • Common Law Episode 2: Case of the Week

I still think it’s too early to pass judgment on the series as a whole, but much like the pilot before it, “Ride-Along” started out slow with the most interesting bits tacked onto the end. read more

This show is awesome. I love the overtones of the bickering married couple, and I love the good foster angle, where Travis has ten mums he loves, instead of the typical evil foster system. I love Wes' OCD. I just love them
  • In English, please

"Neither of those words are adjectives." I have had to listen to that every time your station promotes the show, Common Law. It is driving me!
Do you write like that because you think we are stupid and talk like that or because YOU are stupid and talk like that? Or because you think we are stupid and you WANT us to talk like that? TV has already dragged English into the depths of ignorance and depravity, won't you please throw us a bone? One season with good writingis that too much to ask? I can't look forward to a whole blasted season of "Lay down!" or "Travis and myself went to therapy," or "He got more than me," or "Neither of those words are adjectives."
***People who substitute "myself" when they don't know whether to use "I" or "me" are just as wrong as if they had chosen incorrectly between "I" and "me". It helps if you finish the sentence.
If you are trying to say, "You are just as wrong as _____." the whole sentence would be, "You are just as wrong as I am." (That extends to 3rd person as well. "You are just as wrong as he is.") So the pronoun stays the same if you leave off the ending verb. If you are confused because there is another person mentioned in the sentence leave him out for a minute. (When you put him back in, manners and grammar demand that he comes first.) "It belongs to Joe and ____." can be cleared up by thinking "It belongs to me." Try these:
    1. Joe and (I, me) went to the store. I went to the store. So Joe and I went to the store. Or
    2. No one else did it but (I, me). No one else did it but I did it. Then, No one else did it but I. Or
    3. It belongs to Joe and (I, me). It belongs to me. So it belongs to Joe and me.
If you answer the phone, and someone asks for you, the correct form is: "This is she" This | is \ she she is nominative and reflexive because it just renames "This". If "this" does something TO "she" she is the object of an action and she becomes "her". This | stopped | her
***Then there is the confusion of "lie" and "lay". Both are the present tense.
Lay and laid are respectively their past tenses and the similarity there causes confusion. Respective means the 1st one goes with the first one and the 2nd one goes with the second.
Lie is for reclining. Lay is for placing something, even yourself. You can't "lay down" you "lie down when you are tired" but you can "lay your body down" or "lay your head on the pillow". Unless it happened yesterday. Yesterday I lay down and laid my head on the pillow. A policeman doesn't want what he would get if a criminal obeyed orders when he shouts , "lay down!"
***"Neither of those words are adjectives." neither | are \ adjectives First, having him say nyther just sounds pretentious. Doesn't really fit his characteror anyone I respect. When there are two vowels the first one is long and the second is silent. Wouldn't mommy let you watch Letter People? "When two vowels go walking the first one does the talking." Obviously, this is not universal because of the melting pot that is our language, and the dictionary has caved and provided nyther as an alternate pronunciation because TV has misinformed so many people that it is used more often (moreless

Trained narcotics dogs can find coke wrapped in plastic, surround by gasoline inside the gas tank of a car. Fish tanks and water present no particular challenge for these canines. As most of us know. Can you be a little more careful when you complain about the script of the Pilot...it really turned me off !!!
