Warning do not read this unless you've seen the episode.

This is another of my favorate episodes, it's also one of my favorate Chirstmas episodes in general. As much as I liked the season 1 episode, this one I personally thought was better because there was a lot of heart.

I love the fact this episode was all done in claymation, for some strange reason claymation and Chirstmas just always seem to go together well. I really like the background designs but most importantly the character models which really fit the characters like a glove. Claymation Jeff looks like actor Michael Keaton from that hair cut and forhead. Annie as usual is just cute as a button. But my favorite Claymation model is Britta, just the fact that she is made into a robot, what can I say I love robots. Would of been cool if Britta was made into a Transformer like Arcee from "Transformers Prime", but that would be asking too much. The robot design Britta had fit the comical atmostphere of the episode, she pritty much looks like a toy or retro robot.

Anyway back to the jist of things, I really like the story it's pritty much a fantasy adventure like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and" The Wizard of Oz". The humor and songs are great as usual, however to me what really powers this episode is the emotional aspect. As Abed goes on his journey all his friends are gaining sight again on the meaning of Christmas which they've all lost at some point. I'll admit the reveal was really sad, when we discover that Abed's mom wasn't going to visit him on December 9th which was something she always did for him every Christmas. I'll admit hearing that and seeing the look on Abed's face put a tear in my eye.

However the ending did give me a good feeling, as we see everyone gather together to help Abed against that insensitive jack ass psychologist . What Annie says is funny "Everyone take out your magic Christmas Ok, not the greatest quote but it was just funny because of how daft the idea is, and of course it is payed off when we see each take out the Weapons and use them. What's really funny is that the weapons are not lethal, they shoot out cookies, candy, candy canes, ping pongs, gum drops, butterfingers, just any sweet possitive thing you can think off. And there singing a song "That's what Christmas is which is my favorate of the episode and probably one of my favorate Chirstmas songs in general.

In the end, Abed realizes Christmas is about togetherness with any kind of family. His mom might not of been around this year but another part of his family was there for him, the Greendale Seven (I like to call them that instead of Study Group). Togetherness truely is what Christmas is for.moreless
  • This episode was co-written by Star-Burns!!!!

It wasn't until the second time watching this episode that I noticed Dino Stamatopoulos co-wrote this one. I find little tidbits like this fascinating. This show as a whole, for me, is something more though. Not just an extremely funny show, but FULL to the brim with heart, and this episode had A LOT of that! I like how the journey was through Abed's mind via his pov... The realization of what was making Abed act so strangely was sad, but his friends gathered around him and helped him through it.

The stop motion was great, even though a couple of them were kinda scary: Britta and Jeff.

I loved that Chang was the snowman. He cracks me up no matter what he is, says, does... etc.

All in all this episode was fantastic in all it's entirety.moreless
  • i started crying :'(

I feel bad for Abed and since i don't really cry a lot, crying when Abed found out his mom wasn't coming was sad. Besides that it was a good episode overall, i'm gonna watch it again next christmas! =]
  • The Meaning of Christmas

I didn't see this episode the first time it aired, and that's something I truly regret, because I've missed an entire year of watching it over and over. Now, this wasn't the funniest episode of Community, but it is in the top ten, but it is one of the most creative and enjoyable episodes. It had humor, suspense, and heart. It was very well written, well put together, and amazingly animated.

I feel that even if Community gets cancelled this year, which I really, really hope it doesn't., they should still air it every year, because this is an amazing special.moreless
  • Superb Christmas special!

I loved the craft and detail that went into each scene as well as the overall story. Pierce was hilarious as always along with Jeff, Annie, Troy, Abed, Shirley, Britta, Chang and the rest of the cast. I had to watch it twice just to make sure I didn't miss all the witty details. I could only give it a 9.5 rating due to the fact it was animated and therefore was unable to see Alison's really cute doe eyes this week. Man! she really is cute. Other than that it was superb! I really appreciated the extra mile they went this season and hope the show continues for many more.moreless
