  • Trivia

    • At the end of the episode, we finally see what has happened to Troy's pet monkey, Annie's Boobs, from Season 1's "Contemporary American Poultry". If you look closely, you can also see a small hand grab Annie's purple pen off the table at the beginning of the episode, while the Dean is telling everyone about the Puppy Parade.

  • Quotes

    • Abed: If I could just take a moment to share a few words of sarcasm with whoever it is that took this pen. I wanna say thank you for doing this to me. For a while I thought I'd have to suffer through a puppy parade, but I much prefer being entombed alive in a mausoleum of feelings I can neither understand nor reciprocate. So whoever you are, can I get you anything? Ice cream, best friend medal, anything?

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • "This is turning into a bottle episode."

This references the term used for television episodes shot in a limited setting in order to save money.

    • The entire episode is an allusion to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Murders in the Rue Morgue". This was the first detective story, pre-dating Sherlock Holmes. In the story, a detective must solve a set of murders. Using forensic evidence and the process of elimination, the detective illustrates that once the all the 'possible' is eliminated, only the 'impossible' remains. The detective concludes, correctly, that the murderer is a razor blade-wielding orangutan.
