In this episode, Jeff is stoked for his new billiards class and has dressed his coolest to look the part. Unfortunately, he is stymied by the coach as it is a phys ed class. The coach insists that Jeff wear regulation gym clothes including short shorts and a t-shirt. The change in clothes humiliates Jeff and throws him off his game.

Meanwhile, the group discovers that a mystery girl has a crush on Abed and set out to help him win her over, which basically means they want to "fix" him. Abed tries out a few different tv personalities before settling on acting like Jeff, who walks in on their practice session and throws a tantrum over his billiards class. Abed discovers that the girl, identified by Senor Chang, actually is dating a different guy who is the spitting image of Abed, but white. In the end, Abed reveals to the group that he was just humouring them as he is quite confident already and has "self-esteem coming out of my butt." Besides, girls usually approach him because they find him adorable. Jeff overhears Abed's frank admission and resolves to change his attitude and confront Coach in shorts.

Jeff shows up to the lounge to challenge Coach in the short shorts and t-shirt and the game is on. Jeff has regained his mojo but the coach still insists Jeff is just doing it to look cool. To prove that's he just doing it because he loves the game, Jeff rips off his short shorts to reveal skimpy flourescent underwear. To the horror of the surrounding crowd, Coach counters by ripping off his own shorts leaving nothing but tightie-whities underneath. Staring each other down they strip to only socks and underwear in front of everyone. They battle to a near standstill where Coach still thinks Jeff is just posing, to which they both call each others' bluff and rip off their own underwear. Coach screws up the shot and Jeff capitalizes for the win, earning Coach's respect.

The episode concludes with a hot pool classmate of Jeff's asking Jeff to introduce her to Abed. Jeff tells her that Abed would prefer it if she introduced herself. During the credits, Abed and Troy act like Bert and Ernie.
