In Troy's air-conditioning class, the board reads "This is my Limpkin wrench. There are many like it but this one is mine! My Limpkin wrench without me is useless--my Limpkin wrench is part of me."
Evil Abed is a reference to season 3 episode 4 "Remedial Chaos Theory."
Goof: When Abed enters the apartment to recruit Troy, Troy is eating a sandwich. It alternates by Troy holding the sandwich to it sitting on the plate with no time to pick it up or put it down.
When Troy emerges from the blanket room, he is humming the same song that played on the radio during Abed's Halloween story.
One of the green screen videos in the background shows the ship from the 1978 show Salvage 1.
In the second to last scene, Pierce is shown throwing away the present he brought for Troy. Few seconds later, when Jeff returns, he can be seen doing the same thing again.
In the first shot, Annie asks Britta "didn't they say 304?" at the door of Troy and Abed's apartment (No. 303) and Britta responds "No, 303, I wrote it down twice".
This is a reference to the fact that this episode was shot as the third of the season and planned to air as 3x03 but was later changed to 3x04. Gilian Jacobs wrote the joke after the change was made.
