The boys receive their progress reports from school and while the family finds it no shocker that Chris is failing five classes, they are shocked to learn that Sam is failing Physical Education (PE) because he is incapable of climbing a rope. So, when Chris's football coach, Mr. McCarthy, informs him that he will not be able to play because of his deteriorating grades, he, Chris and Sam compromise an agreement. If Sam tutors Chris and gets him to pass his classes, in return, Coach McCarthy will pass Sam in PE.
