Episode Summary

EDIT

Liber8's agenda changes with the return of Kagame, abandoning violence in favor of blending in and promoting their revolution through existing structures. But they are still at risk of failing through the possibility that they may cease to exist if their ancestors are murdered. An experiment is devised to test this theory, using Kiera and her grandmother as the test subjects.

There's a decent premise at the core of this episode, however it's mostly a mixed bag due to flashforwards that don't really connect to the main storyline all too convincingly, and some sub-par acting from our guest-stars. I'm also still on the fence about our main characters, too. Matthew is the only character on the show allowed any time to truly breathe, and although his alliance is still very much in shade of grey territory, he's complicated and likeable enough to struggle past the writing. Nevertheless, this is a show that's easily digestible, and while I still feel the bad guys are the more interesting lot of our cast, Alec is finally coming into his own and Carlos is starting to feel less like hunky furniture.moreless
  • Spectacular!

This was definitely the best episode since the pilot episode. There were just so many elements to this story and all of them were executed perfectly. Can't believe we started meeting everyone's ancestors and so forth. It was quite strange to be honest. But I loved how they were used!

Was expecting Kellog to just disappear there. I wonder why he didn't? That will definitely be something worth watching in the near future!

Can't wait for the next episode! Keep it up, Continuum!moreless

    • Alec: The absence of proof isn't proof of anything.

    • Lily Jones: Have friends much?
Kiera: What do you mean by that?
Lily Jones: You're all like "do this", "do that", "get in the car cuz someone's trying to kill you." Kind of bossy.
      Kiera: Look who's talking.
Lily Jones: Yeah. But I'm the kid. I'm supposed to be this way. You're the adult. You're supposed to be nice.
Kiera: Get in the car. (Lily stares at her) Please.

    • Kellog: What? No hello?
Kiera: The last time I met you here, you were carrying a live grenade. Then, we almost got blown up by a mine, so forgive me for not being polite.
Kellog: Well, I'm exciting to be around. What can I say?
Kiera: So this is a Kevlar optional affair?
Kellog: For you. Not for your ancestors. I just met with Kagame. The danger's real. They're going after your grandmother.
Kiera: I already know that. Why?
Kellog: Well, to get rid of you for starters. And it's all your fault. You had to threaten Lucas with killing his grandparents. That got them all going about what might happen if one of our ancestors were killed. And now Kagame, he wants to try a grand experiment to test our paradoxical vulnerability. Cupcake?
Kiera: So that makes me what? The guinea pig?
      Kellog: Squeak squeak.
