  • Spectacular!

I think some episode reviewers found the season premiere a little lacklustre, and I can understand why even though I enjoyed it. However, this episode was just completely explosive and exceptional with major developments and a lot of suspense to keep us occupied.

That new agent joining hthe task force is messing around and that is going to cuase some interesting dynamics and problems in coming episodes, I believe. Meanwhile, Alec's new alliance with Kellog is certainly an interesting prospect. Loioks like Kellog is planning to change his own future as much as anything else.

But most interesting of all is the two factions of Liber8 that seem to have developed. Garza and Travis against Sonya and Lucas. I don't know if they will reunite and work together or go at it their separate ways, but the dynamics are bound to be breathtaking!

Can't wait for the enxt episode!moreless
  • Too much infighting is never a good thing

    6.0
"Split Second" is a solid episode that showcases the distrust and shifting loyalties on both sides in the war to save a future (that may or may not be worth saving). With Agent Gardener reassigned to the task force Kiera and Carlos have one more thing to worry about when they are tasked with transferring Travis to a new facility. As you might expect, things don't go exactly as planned. Kiera blames Gardner, Gardner blames Kiera, and Liber8 fractures as the terrorists from the future send not one but two separate teams to retrieve Travis, both with different objectives. As the adults deal with the Travis situation, Alec is offered an opportunity by Kellogg which may have significant ramifications to the future Kiera is trying to protect.

  • Interesting developments...

Great episode - lots of action.

The developments in the story are big - but their consequences are not yet entirely clear to me:

    1. Information leak - Who is the mole? is there even one or did Liber8 just hack their networks? I doubt its Garner, I don't see a connection to Liber8. And Garza must have gotten the info as well. It might have been Alec via Kellog. After all he is able to locate Kira via her suite at all times.

    2. Whats up with Liber8 splitting up? To me it seemed like that was Kagame's plan: Have a political / sneaky side and a full frontal / military aspect. My first assuption was that Travis was "put" in prison to protect Alec's halfbrother. But now he's out and with Garza and it would seem like they will be fighting each other?

    3. Whats up with Alec setting up shop with Kellog? I mean, he knows what Kellog (and Liber8) is all about.... Ok he doesn't want to work as a sales-guy and he needs startup money for his own company. but surely he's smart enough to come up with an other way than to use Kellog? Or does he think he (Alec) send Kellog back so could help him start the company?

    4. I can see that Garner is all about Kiera and her shield / dissapearing act.

As you can tell.... there's a lot going on and it is not at all clear where it's headed. But I guess thats a good thing. Keeps us on our toes and makes for interesting evenings in front of the tv.

Looking foreward to next weeks ep.moreless
  • My new Fringe

    9.0
I'm still bummed that my favourite sci-fi show ended, but this looks like it's here to take its place. Awesome second episode, much better than the first one. Was that a cool car chase or what? The action ruled this epi, and I'm loving all the questions this season's raising. I wonder what would happen if Kiera told Carlos the truth.

Kellog's participation in all this is making me dizzy, but it's a nice twist. I also love that Alec is so concerned about being a good man in the future, because his future self had kinda lost that. Nice foreshadowing with the kid in the store there. Shows where he's headed.

I LOVE Kiera's suit! So many cool settings. Just don't make it your deus ex machina, Simon Barry. It can only get Kiera out of trouble so many times.moreless

    • Travis: (to Carlos) Here's some free advice, Detective. Cash in that shitty pension, turn in that badge, buy that motorcycle you've always dreamed about and a shitload of guns. You're gonna want to be prepared for the changes that are coming.
Kiera: They really did a number on you in prison. We should be taking you to the psych ward.
Travis: Yeah. I guess that's where time travelers would fit in best, huh?

    • Alec: Hey, can I ask you something that might sound a little bit weird?
Kellog: I'm a time traveler, kid. Weird is my specialty.
Alec: What am I like in 2077? Like old me. What's my deal?
Kellog: Straight to the point. I like that. What did Kiera tell you?
      Alec: Nothing.
Kellog: Here's the deal, kid. In 2077, you are in today's terms, Zuckerberg, Jobs, Buffet, and Gates all rolled into one.
      Alec: Rich.
Kellog: No, no, no. Beyond rich. Epic wealth.
Alec: No, you don't understand. What am I like as a person?
Kellog: Uh, as a person? Who gives a shit? You're loaded.

    • Kiera: I know you don't have all the answers you're looking for right now, but if you don't follow the path of destiny that shapes the future as I know it, the world won't end up as it did in my time.
Alec: Is that necessarily a bad thing?
Kiera: I want to go home. I want to get back to my family. And the only way I'm gonna be able to do that is if things stay on track.
Alec: Kiera, when you tried to stop that bombing, did you know that you were possibly throwing away a chance of getting home?
      Kiera: I didn't have a choice.
      Alec: Yes, you did.
Kiera: Choose to let hundreds of innocent people die?
Alec: Don't be so naive. These decisions are gonna keep coming up. At a certain point, you're gonna have to choose between protecting the future for your unborn family or protecting the future for yourself and those of us who are alive now.
