Show Summary

Cooking Odyssey, Chef Yannis Mameletzis' new cooking show, has something important to add to the discussion about the benefits of adopting a more Mediterranean diet. Although Mediterranean cooking has been well-chronicled in American pop culture previously, this series not only takes viewers on an educational, culinary journey throughout the regions of Greece to better acquaint them with cooking traditions specific to localities, it also features a chef who has an Oxford PhD in molecular epidemiology, a discipline that examines the environmental impact of ingredients on one's health. Long an advocate of eating whole foods, Chef Yannis introduces viewers to the culture of each place that he visits, before delving into sharing how to cook favorites such as souvlakia, grilled squid, beet salad, greek lamb, and halva. This year's series of shows begins in Santorini, an island in the Mediterranean with thousands of years of history, and continues on to destinations such as Mykonos, Athens, Trikala, and Lefkada.
