COPS airs it's 700th episode Saturday November 10th on the FOX network.
A milestone for any series, the little show that no one was interested in until it was presented to the flegling television network started by 20th Century Fox, COPS, produced by Langley Productions of Santa Monica, California, presents it's 700th episode during it's 20th season, November 10, 2007.
Using a form of cinéma-vérité, COPS is simply a two man camera crew placed in police cars, documenting actual events without having any affect on the action or outcome of the call. There is no narrator other than those involved at the scene.
Nominated four times for the Emmy Award, COPS has defied all of those copy cat shows that followed and still manages to win it's time slot every Saturday night, even against football and past notable shows like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
How long will COPS manage to entice it's viewers is anyone's guess, but as long as there are stupid people doing stupid things, it may just stick around for quite a while.
