  • Dog River lobbies to get the new doctor to live in town.

This episode sees Dog River in need of a doctor. A new doctor is coming, and Lacey is elected to meet and greet the newcomer, and convince him to stay in Dog River. The committee (with an acronym that is unpronounceable, but funny) suggests that Lacey dress "provocatively, but not slutty" in order to help convince the doctor. Lacey does so, and sets out to meet the bus.

Unfortunately, there's a hitch. There's always a hitch in Dog River....the new doctor is a woman, and she's something else. She's hilarious, is what she is -- she's from a small town, and isn't used to someplace as big and fast-paced as Dog River. And, of course, everything that everyone says to the new doctor has the opposite effect of what was intended. All situations (including the sub-plot of Hank needing a place to stay) are misunderstood by the new doctor, resulting in the doctor becoming more and more upset. As it turns out, this is fine by the townsfolk, as they've decided that they don't really like the new doctor - she's too pokey and small-town for them, and they want to get rid of her. Leaving Lacey on the case seems to be the answer, and in the end, the new doctor goes back to the small town that she came from, and everything in Dog River is as it should be.

The comic idea of having Dog River be the "big city" is what makes this episode work so well. Just that idea alone causes laughter, and seeing someone from a smaller place really makes us sympathize with the Dog Riverites. All in all, this is an excellent episode.
