Ok, well I'm a little worried about next week's episode.  From the previews, it looks like something completely different than anything else Corner Gas has tried.  It sorta reminds me of the Grey Cup episode in season 1, where Brent and Lacey had their "thing".  But I thought the Grey Cup episode was one of the worst they've ever done.  I hope they can pull this off, whatever it is they're trying to do next week.

I haven't actually seen the commercials for it yet; I know the basic plot line, and I've seen some screen caps, and heard lots of rumours. I don't buy the rumours, and as for a picture... well, it may be worth a thousand words, but taken out of context... it might not be the ~right~ thousand words!

And they've definitely mislead viewers with editing in the commercials before; remember the episode where Hank and Oscar play the imaginary stock market? They edited the commercials there to make it seem like it was the price of gas that was going up, up, up. But it wasn't that way at all, once the episode aired.

I think they may be trying to pull off a cliffhanger!

Edit: Okay, I've seen the commercial now... and my opinion is still the same. There's no way that Lacey will leave for good; even if she really leaves, she'll come back.

One thing that I didn't mention before: for months and months, Brent was working on a deal to have CG shown in the US; the deal was completed about a month or so ago. The deal was, according to the official site, for 88 episodes. This means that there ~must~ be a season 5, with 19 episodes, as the number for the final episode in season 4 is 69. Nineteen more would make 88. So it's definitely not the end.

    hello

I'm sorry I can't contribute much to this thread, but I saw the commercial, and I actually like it
My question: does anyone know the song that is played in this commercial?

    thank you!

It's definitely Blue Rodeo, although I don't know what song it is. I'll listen for the lyrics next time I see the commercial, and see what I can find.

Yeah, the commercial makes it very much appear that the show will end. It's kind of neat thought: that they would end the show while it is still good and just made it into international markets.

Nah: just a cliff hanger ... or a nice out if CTV has a stupid moment and does not renew their best 30 minute show.

I think the song in the commercial is "Bad Timing" by Blue Rodeo.

Brent to pump last litre at Corner Gas (3:40 p.m.)Hit show to call it quits, CTV saysedmontonjournal.comPublished: Tuesday, March 06, 2007

Corner Gas, the hit comedy about a the quirky characters living in a fictitious Saskatchewan town, is closing shop.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will make a guest appearance on next week’s final episode.

    In
a news release today, CTV says the series will air its last episode
March 12 with Brent closing his gas station and Lacy leaving the Ruby
    and moving back to Toronto.

This follows a season-high viewership by 1.81 million viewers watching Monday night’s episode.

CTV says the series will end with a bang.

    “Corner
Gas goes out with a bang in the series most unexpected episode ever
when what seems like a great idea to increase tourism in Dog River
actually makes things worse beyond Hank’s wildest dreams,” the network
    says in a news release.

    “In Monday’s monumental episode, entitled
‘Gopher It,’ Dog River is run rampant with prairie dogs — or gophers —
among other alarming events. When Prime Minister Stephen Harper becomes
the second PM since Diefenbaker to visit Dog River, he wades into a
local controversy which he blames on the previous Liberal government.
As the episode unfolds, Brent closes shop, Lacey moves home, and the
fate of Hank, Oscar, Emma, Wanda, Karen and Davis are put into question
    — not to mention Corner Gas itself.”

I actually read somewhere that Corner Gas is not ending this season, though, and that the writers are already working on season five.

Yes, although I hadn't actually heard that, as I said, season 5 is a given since the US distribution deal was for 88 episodes.

I also heard that Brent Butt did an interview on CBC Radio in which he said that the season ender was NOT the end of the whole series.

But all this talk/hype certainly has people wondering, and will get their numbers up, I imagine. And don't forget to stay tuned to watch Robson Arms, immediately afterwards!

I personally don't really like the sound of this finale, it doesn't look all that good to me, I am really wondering where they are planning on going with this.  The preview doesn't fit the lighthearted mood of the show.  Mind you, I generally enjoy the middle episodes over the finales for corner gas.  I guess I'll just have to wait and wee that the writers are doing.

It's not ending, I saw the episode, just about the whole episode is Hank thinking about his prairie dog idea.

Yeah, I knew this was not going to be the series finale, just the season finale.  While the episode was funny, I am disappointed with the way they decided to end it.  Turns out I was right when I was worried.  Read my review for what I really think.

I wasn't sure where they were going with the show either, but glad it was all in Hank's head. It was an excellent installment and can't wait until next season!!

I have to admit, I was getting a little scared while watching the episode, thinking that it might be a series finale.  But it didn't make sense that it would be.  There would have been more word of it, and it's so successfull right now, that it wouldn't make sense to end it.

Anyway, I'm just glad it's not ending!

I hope that it's not the end of Corner Gas.  This is Canadian comedy at its best.
