The thought of Brent going on vacation, or stay-cation, still makes me laugh, just thinking about it. This plot line was one of the great moments of this season. I loved the parts where he was sending post cards back to Dog River from his overseas vacation, and then when Lacey started talking to him, he would only talk to her in postcard-speak. That was just great.

Oscar trying to use the internet was pretty funny as well, but the jokes were pretty predictable. It was still funny though. Karen and Davis at the pot luck dinner wasn't so funny. It just seemed like Karen went way too far in trying to prove her point and ended up going too far out of her way just to get Davis to do the main course, and it just wasn't that funny.

But overall, it was a good episode, and the main storyline carried it well.

"I'm having a great time in Aruba, although it's windier than I thought."

As written by Brent, from a lawn chair across the street from Corner Gas. Taken, out of context it is not very funny. But to hear Hank read this postcard (from Dog River mind you) while Lacey gets more and more confused and concerned is hilarious. They even top it by having Brent do verbal postcards!

Without seeing this, it is hard to describe with any sort of humour. With the wealth of acting talent on the payroll, Brent's production should be getting all of the relevant Gemini Awards that can be awarded to a TV show in Canada. Heck, they should get some Emmies too, even though the show isn't seen in the US.

This show is just very funny. This particular episode shifts the focus (not for the first time) away from Brent to let some of his excellent co-workers shine. We get Lacey who just cannot leave well enough alone (stop me if you've heard this before) and ruins Brent's staycation. At least until she finally understands and takes a staycation of her own.

We also find out that Karen is a little neurotic herself. She takes issue to the fact that Davis always brings napkins to the annual potluck, while she slaves to bring the main dish. She conspires to make him do the dish and gets more and more concerned when her repeated attempts to keep him doing the main dish don't phase him.

There are two punch lines to this gag. The first one is that Davis doesn't care because Emma was going to do it for him anyways. The second gag, and the more obvious, one is that Karen forgets the napkins. The one thing she needed to remember. The one thing that is easy as pie. She forgets to do it and Davis saves the day with an extra, non-themed set.

Overall a better episode than I thought it would be. Next week's episode looks even more promising. I'm glad I'm going along for the ride, I hope you're coming too.
