  • Trivia, cameras, and gnomes -- this episode has it all.

It's very hard to pick a single Corner Gas episode as my favorite -- usually, it's whatever episode I saw last -- but this one has to be right up there in terms of the number of times it makes me laugh out loud even after repeated viewings.

The camera adventures are funny, and the trivia stuff and prepping Davis for his trip to Vegas are pretty good, too, but for me the highlight of the episode is the gnome subplot, made even better by the music snippets played for the gnome closeups. Eric Peterson as always does a great job as "Flesh Oscar", but Gnome Oscar (did he really make that sandwich?) and "Perfect Emma" steal the show. And with all the funny lines here, one that particularly stands out is Oscar's introduction of "Perfect Emma" -- the way Emma says, "Oh, we won't be keeping that" is pure gold.

Gnome-body knows the trouble I've seen. Gnome-body knows my sorrow.

Lame joke, but I could not resist. This whole episode, while overall funny, was best with the Gnomes. Oscar and Emma's wacko neighbour is likes lawn ornaments. However, Oscar thinks they're very odd indeed. He ends up waging war against the neighbour without Emma's help, that is until Emma gets pissed off at the neighbour too.

Of course, there was the standard Gnome joke: "Hey Oscar, he looks just like you", which is partly true. They end up stealing a second Gnome that looks a lot like Emma, which freaks her out. And this is just the fill-in story line. The third batter as it were.

The primary story is about Brent acting like his dad. He has an old camera (knock off of a Polaroid from the 70's/80's) that he refuses to let go of. That is until it is pointed out that that is something Oscar would do. Wham, bam, digital camera ma'am.

The joke continues with Brent being the only person that cannot use a point and click digital camera. Eventually he gives up and goes back to old faithful. In the meantime we got some funny candid-ish shots of Brent being suprized that the camera works.

The secondary story is that Paul put a trivia game (like NTN) in the bar. Hank convinces Lacey to join as a team so that they can win a free T-Shirt. They are team "HaLa" until Hank realizes that Lacey doesn't actually know much. So they they become "WaHaLa" (Wanda-Hank-Lacey) until they revert back to HaLa since Wanda takes too long telling stories to answer the questions.

Wanda then creates the WanDa team with Davis, who doesn't like the team name for obvious reasons. He ends up getting all the answers, but the crowd chants "Wanda" since it appears as if she did it all. This was actually the funniest story of the night. The episode should have been called "Trivia Wanda" or something other than "Picture Perfect".

Overall, one of the better episodes of the season. Still no where near the funny of the Tax Man or World's Biggest Thing episodes.
