Like many in the USA, I came to this show late. This is a good thing, and a bad thing.
Bad, because it meant that I had missed out on some very funny television for a long time.
Good, because it meant that I could watch the whole back-catalog in a short period of time, and see how the show grew and became better and better.
So it was great when I settled down to watch season 6 begin. And fail.
The first two episodes had their chuckle-worthy moments, but this episode is the first where my wife and I looked at each other and agreed to watch something else half-way through.
It should never come as a surprise, no show can last forever. I stopped watching the Simpsons in 2001, Red Dwarf was painful when Kochanski became a permanent cast member.
The truly great shows know when to stop. The Young Ones were killed off after just 12 episodes. Same for Fawlty Towers. Brent Butt clearly knew the end was nigh, he just went one season too many.
