  • This episode concludes the "cliffhanger" that we were left with at the end of the first season. Will Brent and Lacey get together? Or will love tear them apart?

Another fine episode of Corner Gas; in this, the first episode of season two, we see a conclusion to the "cliffhanger" of season one -- the Brent/Lacey relationship. There's also the problem of mysterious shots being fired near town that Davis and Karen have to investigate; and Oscar wants to buy an outboard motor.

As with many of the episodes, the storylines aren't really connected, although there is one minor connection between the Oscar storyline and the Davis/Karen storyline, and that link, small though it might be, is quite funny. It's like a joke that takes 20 minutes to set up, all for a one-line pay-off. But it ~is~ humourous. The Brent & Lacey storyline exists on its own, and is probably the best of the three, especially when Lacey decides that the ladies of Dog River have 'adapted.' But even Lacey accepts what she can't change in the end, and learns to live, leaving Brent forever outside her reach.

This episode was the first one that I ever saw, and was an excellent introduction to the series. It certainly left me wanting to watch more of the series, and curious as to what I'd missed in the first season. All in all, this episode comes highly recommended.moreless

  • QUOTES (10)

    ADD QUOTES
    • Emma: We need to talk. Hank: No, no we don't. No, talk to Oscar. He's the one that stole the money from your nightstand last Thursday while you were out with the church ladies getting ready for the bake sale, I don't know nothing about it!

    • Emma: That's my money! Oscar: If it's your money, how come I have it?

    • (Karen interrogates Davis about firing his gun) Karen: You look like you could use a break. Want a coffee? Davis: Yeah! Karen: We're all out.

    • Brent: (to Oscar) Dad, if you're trying to hide from someone, don't hide in the place you go to every day.

    • Lacey: How's it going? Brent: I'm sitting down. I'm eating. For a lazy glutton, this is like a perfect day.

    • Oscar: What's this thing weigh? Hank: Fifty kilograms. Oscar: Kilograms? Talk right! Hank: It's metric. Oscar: Metric? I got news for you, Hank, we won the war!

    • Oscar: Maybe I'm buying you a present. Emma: You bought me a plastic butter dish fifteen years ago, and now another present?

    • Wanda: You almost kissed [Brent]? Wow, that's a big deal... for grade seven.

    • Hank: Hey Brent, how tall are you? Brent: Same height as usual, I'm just sitting down. Hank: Answer the question. How tall are you? Brent: About five-nine. Hank: My point exactly! Brent: Did I just lose an argument I wasn't even in?

    • Hank: Hey Davis, I got a nest of squirrels or something in my attic. Can I borrow your gun? Davis: Sure (gives him the gun) Karen: Davis! Davis: Oh yeah. You have to file a report afterward. Hank: Unlikely.
