  • "Sorry, but when I hear 'World's Biggest Hoe' I think of a forty foot prostitute working the streets"

I saw this re-run on Saturday and I decided that I just have to write a review for my favourite episode of Corner Gas. This entire episode had me laughing from beginning to end (actually at the end I was crying from laughing so hard). First Hank actually has a good idea (circle the calendar!) and the town agrees that Dog River should build a world's biggest thing to attract tourists. In a meeting at the Ruby, the mayor, Brent, the mayor's grandma and a few townspeople try to come up what to build that would represent Dog River ("how about a big dog standing in the river?"). The mayor's grandma comes up with the world's biggest HOE, to celebrate the community's farming heritage. The conversation that follows is probably the funniest one I've ever seen on television. It had me in tears.

In the end, as Hank points out, having the world's biggest hoe does attract a lot of attention- for the other town that already has it built!

Also going on, Davis is feeling old until Fitzy's grandma puts him in his place (She calls him 'young man'). Davis feels young again but Karen quickly burst Davis' bubble.

And Oscar is sure that Lacey has a crush on him because she, trying to make him feel better, tells him that he doesn't look old. We get to see Oscar try to get rid of Lacey’s infatuation , which she didn't even know she had.

While the two side stories are very funny in their own right, the highlight of the episode, of the season, was the big dirty hoe story. I've seen this episode more times then I can count and it gets me every time.
  • Dog River's plan to increase tourism by building "The World's Biggest Thing."

This episode of Corner Gas ranks as the number 1 episode in my books. The main plot line is that Dog River, feeling that they're missing out on the tourism dollars, decides to follow Hank's advice and build "The World's Biggest Thing." Of course, Hank's plan is a little lacking in details, which leads to one of the funniest scenes of the episode and series - the meeting to decide just what the "thing" should be. Grandma Fitzy suggests that since it's a farming community, it should be a garden implement, like a hoe. And this, of course, leads to a series of jokes about the World's Biggest Hoe.

Even though the double entendre is obvious and even a somewhat juvenile, it's still funny. And the fact that Grandma Fitzy was the one to suggest it just makes it funnier. Brent valiantly tries to suggest some alternate names, but to no avail. And so the Hoe is built. And then, of course, the whole thing backfires on them.

The episode had me laughing all the way through, and is one that I can and do watch over and over.
