Rod Cameron was a six foot five inch B movie star of the 1940's and 1950's. He had three series in the 1950's: State Trooper, City Detective, and this show. Cameron's heros were laconic, upright and decent. Cameron had a quiet dignity like Gary Cooper, but he rarely was willing to show any emotion. This show had minimal sex and violence, just some nice occasional on-location photography of San Diego. I love half-hour loner private eye shows, but compared to Johnny Stacatto, Johnny Midnight, Mike Hammer, Meet McGraw, Philip Marlowe, Richard Diamond, Markham, and Peter Gunn, Coronado 9 was a little below par.
