Mike is upset when Mark tells him he's going on his travels again. Tyrone is horrified when Les guesses he can't read and pokes fun at him. Toyah is upset on Tyrone's behalf. Duggie misses Tom and wonders how he turned into such a monster that his own son hates him. The police find the body of a young woman and take a shaken Dev to identify her. He is sickened but relieved it isn't Amy. Martin is torn by loving Rebecca and his children. She refuses to pressurise him as she fears he'll choose his family over her. He tells her he's decided to leave Gail. Mark urges Mike to accept he has to leave. Dev is tortured by the thought that Amy could have killed herself.

The Tilsleys try to tell Audrey she's not welcome, she tells them she's planning to move out. Frankie motors up to see Mike with his girlfriend Sylvia Hicks. Mike is amazed that he is so affluent. Elsie takes Audrey in for a few days, sympathetic with her cause. Mike is amazed when Sylvia turns out to be a glamorous twenty-year old. Tony Ditchburn turns up at the Tilsleys looking for Audrey. Brian tells him to keep his fists to himself. Fred and Alf are sick to discover business is booming for Frankie. Sylvia makes Frankie feel good. Brian helps a girl, Michelle, fill her car with petrol. Whilst she keeps him occupied Ronnie Burgess goes through the till. Brian sees him and tries to stop him. Ronnie threatens him with a screw driver but Brian overpowers him and smashes him into a wall. The girl escapes and Brian calls the police.

Bert tells Ivy they'll have to pay the Duckworths' deposits back. Audrey arrives, Gail and Brian take her to see the house plot. Bet lets Keith use her board to iron his clothes. Dan turns up and catches him with no trousers on. Bet is pleased to see Dan is jealous. Pauline accuses Mike of trying to corrupt her with the high life. He tells her he knows she's not really a socialist. Ivy tells Brian to watch Gail, else she'll spend every penny they ever have. He tells her lending him money doesn't give her the right to run his life. Bert wants to tell Brian about their holiday sacrifice but Ivy refuses to let him. Dan threatens Keith if he doesn't stick to his own flat.

Becky sits and sulks at the Caf getting on Sylvia's nerves. Becky's mood worsens when she sees Stella's name has been put above the Rover's door.

Steve leaves for a visit with his brother (Andy), at Brighton. Becky seizes the opportunity and takes over at the Rovers.

Frank is not happy when he arrives at the factory to find the girls messing around. Frank and Carla meet a prospective new buyer. When Carla hears the offer price, she becomes angry and throws her out. When Frank confronts Carla she reveals that her Mother has died.
