What a great episode, I'm loving this show. Ellie and Andy are the perfect couple, even though Andy plays the stereotypical stupid husband. The role of Laurie is perfect for Busy Phillips, since she played a very similar role on Dawson's Creek. The man crush between Andy and Bobby is such a great Dynamic!. I am really seeing great potential for a Grayson/Jules Hook up. Grayson is slowly becoming part of the inner circle. Travis bringing a girl over and the gang singing to her and playing the guitar is classic!. I can't wait to see more of this original show.moreless
  • This show is heading nowhere,... and Fast!

    4.5
    "Poor"
This was another in quite a long line of rubbish episodes, and in my opinion, everything that I didn't like in this series so far managed to culminate into a very bda episode all-round.

The Thanksgiving episode idea was definitely a good one, but they turned the episode into something it didn't need to be. The episode focussed way too much on some annoying little storylines, and Jules did not seem like the main character in the show.

Overall, perhaps the worst episode of the show, in myu opninion, but still, the show will hopefully develop into something better. 4.5 is more than a generous score.moreless

Sort of a very perverse family dinner in the end, but based on this show everything came around for Thanksgiving in the end. After everything that occurred that's amazing.

Travis has invited Kylie played by Spencer Locke to Thanksgiving dinner despite the fact that could be a big mistake. He also confides something very important to his mother as well. Of course Jules can't keep her mouth shut and manages to make things really uncomfortable in so many ways.

On the guy front. Bobby's cholesterol is really high and he confides this to his buddy Andy. Andy promises not to tell, but he caves to Ellie almost immediately and she tells Jules. Later Andy knows something else really important about Grayson and Bobby and who they both really like. We'll see if he caves again as Ellie is on to him.

In the end all is well and it seems Jules and Travis are OK and the dinner comes off without any more hitches. I did enjoy most of the little bits and the episode was very funny. Grayson asking to come to Thanksgiving dinner was especially funny. Also Jules reaction to that was great as well.

Very entertaining, well written, and superbly acted. A very funny comedy right up there with Two and a Half Men, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory. Thanks for reading...moreless

    ADD QUOTES
    • Bobby: No Offense but I could not be with someone like you! Ellie: Everyone in the world like me thanks you.

    • Bobby: You think so much your head must hurt. (to Jules after she talks non-stop on being the hero for thanksgiving day)

    • Jules: In one of our friendship talks, Travis told me she's not even on the pill. Condoms break all the time. Laurie: Especially if there's piercings involved. Ellie: Stop, I'm begging you.

    • Jules: The sales after Thanksgiving this year are going to be insane. We're talking full on shopping orgy. Laurie: We are gonna save so much money by spending.

    • Travis: I'm about to bring Kylie in so I need you all to act like normal human beings. I know it's going to be hard but I can help. Mrs. Torres, Kylie doesn't have an eating disorder, she runs cross country, so think of a new opening question. Mr. Torres, I don't care how much you eat, let's keep our pants buttoned. Laurie, your breasts are bigger than hers. There I said it, you don't need to tell her. Neighbor guy, I see you brought your fruity little guitar, let's keep that holstered. Mom, you have multiple problem areas so when it doubt just say to yourself that's a bad idea. Dad, I think we both know it's best if you don't say anything.
