i can't imagine this show not getting a good rating - my hubby and i LOVE IT! It's hilarious - one of the best comedy's on air without being offensive!

okai first time i watched this show it's just a meehhh... but after a while it's start become better. it's funny and i pretty like it. people should give it a try and give them second change. it's not like TBBT or HIMYM, it has their own characteristic.
  • Love it.

I have to say, the ratings may be bad, but this show is damn funny, with a good cast and good jokes, and what surprises me the most is the continuity, it's phenomenal!

I have never understood why this show ever made it in the first place. Its not funny and in poor taste.

I almost did not watch this show becuase of the lo ratings here. The people who gave those low ratings probably confused this show with some other show. Why? Because this show is absolutely fantastic. Two words - Courtney Cox. One cannot not love her. I've seen Friends and Courtney Cox only gets better. There's a little Monica Gellar in her character and that makes her even more fantastic. On to the characters:
Jules Cobb is perfect. Period. Her best friend,Ellie (Christa Miller) is definitely the best character on the show. Her bond to Jules and she understands is fantastic. She is a very different character and all her actions are highly entertaining.
Grayson also emerges as a terrific character, and does justice. Laurie (Busy Phillips) is fun, weird and quirky. Her arguments with Ellie make a solid reason to watch this show. Bobby and Ellie's husband are hilarious.
The Verdict : Do not miss this show. The comedy is fantastic and not lame or even repetitive. Again, Courtney Cox. THe rlationships between all the characters are so beautifully written that it makes you want to hug them.A change of name is need though. But this show - 10/10

everything about this show is just simply fantastic i have no words to describe it!!

Cougar Town sounds like a bad idea. It sounds as bad as I Hate My Teenage Daughter or How to Be a Gentleman, yet, unlike both of those, Cougar Town is actually really good when it pulls away from the 'cougar' aspect and focuses more on life as a single older women trying to be comfortable in her own life.

This show is best described as 'light-hearted' because, well, it's fun. The cast of characters all interact really well, and a majority of the ideas on the show feel refreshing (like Penny Can)! Honestly, it reminds me of friends in that every character does their own thing like normal, has their own flaws and motivations and these plausibly drive events.

Anyhow, I just want to say that if Cougar Town isn't highly rated, it's because of people who don't make an effort like the characters, or they just don't like the change between seasons, when the show was having an identity crisis of sorts because it, like the viewers, realized it really wasn't the Cougar Town it began as.

When i first started watching this show i had my doubts about how long its gonna last and its true that its definately not the best show ever but i agree with everyone else saying it grows on you. After watching a few episodes from season 2,i came close to quiting it but am glad i gave it a second chance cause now its became very pleasant to watch.Courtney Cox is always amazing and the jokes keep getting better and better.I really hope season 3 keeps up the good work.
  • I stopped watching this show...

Season 1 was great but it seemed that all the jokes got old in Season 2. There are great actors in this show and I had lots of laughs in Season 1, but things seemed to fizzle out in Season 2. The story lines got old, the characters lost their pizazz. I found that I was forcing myself to watch the show. But each weeks the laughs got less and less until I stopped watching it in October. I guess there are some shows that get a great start but can't keep it up. Cougar Town is one of them.
  • I keep watching this show mainly for two reasons: Bobby and Lauren, but even if they are lovely, I don't think I'll keep watching. Cougar Town ticks me off more than it makes me laugh - and there's so many MUCH better shows out there!

I keep watching this show mainly for two reasons: Bobby and Lauren. While Andy is adorkable, Grayson is easy on the eye and Ellie is good for the occasional laugh - I just can NOT stand Jules. She is neurotic, mean, self centered, has an EXTREMELY unhealthy relation to her son aaaand she is absolutely and utterly unlikable so I have no clue as to why any of the characters in this show would even speak to her (sxcept perhaps her son, who pretty much has to... even if I'm pretty sure he could get a restraining order going for him there...)!

I also do not appreciate the rudeness and crudeness of the humour sometimes. I do not find alcoholism funny and I don't think being mean is hilarious - which makes about 75% of the jokes fall flat. The rest of them? Well, that's where Bobby, Andy and Lauren comes in.

Honestly, though: I don't think I'll keep watching. It ticks me off more than it makes me laugh and both Busy Phillips and Brian Van Holt have done so much more, so much better stuff. I think I'll keep to them...!
  • I really liked this show despite its name, whenever i recommend it to any one they don't give it a chance but I'm a big fan, the show really did grow on me.

This show is really good, its not what you would expect from a show called "Cougar Town" but it was definitely worth my time and really made me laugh, (some episodes more than others). A few of the episodes were a little sad for a sitcom but it really felt like reality unlike other shows were the characters were not relatable. My taste of Television shows is not the same as most of the other viewers so I find very often that my favorite shows would get cut. I am very very pleased that finally there are enough other people that watch this show to keep it a float. I must not be crazy after all.
  • Good for the occasional laugh, but they are too few to make up for the unlikeable characters, the poor dialogue and the dead atmosphere. Only watch it if you have nothing better to do.

I tried to like this series, I really did. Sure, I almost stopped watching in the middle of the pilot, but I gave it another go and made it through to the second season. But, unfortunately it just doesn't get any better.

I know it's probably unfair to compare Cougar Town to Scrubs, but since the series share a creator and some techniques and styles are reused in Cougar Town, I'm afraid its inevitable.

The series' biggest problem is that its a pure comedy, that just isn't all that funny. While Scrubs was a collection of funny, multifaceted characters in a serious setting, Cougar Town is a collection of idiots in a neutral setting.

This made Scrubs not only funny, but emotionally engrossing and thought provoking. In Cougar Town most of the jokes fall flat and the moments when they do try to add a little seriousness it falls even flatter. Which brings us to the second problem that might actually be the reason the series is not funny in the first place. The characters.

Scrubs and Cougar Town actually start the same way, the main characters looking in the mirror. But while J.D. managed to become a real, interesting person in a few seconds, Jules only becomes an unfunny stereotype. And seriously, if you want to cast a forty year old woman insecure about her looks, don't choose someone like Courtney Cox where the worst you can find is a bit of skinflap on her elbows. The character she played in Friends was of course a bit neurotic as well, but that wasn't all there was to Monica. Jules, on the other hand, only has her neurosis and her looks, nothing else.

Perhaps this could be overlooked if the surrounding cast was not just as neurotic, as one-sided and most unforgivable of all; boring and unengaging. The will-they-won't-they, for example, which is one of the most powerful tools in a lot of series simply doesn't work here because who cares if Jules and Greyson get together? They're both fundamentally unlikeable.

Which brings up another problem, the dialogue. It works sometimes. Sometimes you actually laugh, but a lot of the time its as one-dimensional as the characters. And one interesting thing, how is it that, despite a veteran cast of actors and actresses, so many of the lines feel exactly like what they are: lines? I feel especially sorry for Christa Miller and Courtney Cox that deserved better than this.

Anyway, if you've got nothing better to do you can watch it, but don't for one second believe you are going to see the next Scrubs.

When I saw the previews, which they always show the best clips on, it looked semi interesting and made me curious to check the show out. I enjoyed Courtney Cox's acting in Friends so I thought that I would check this show out. Unfortunately, the time I spent watching this show could have been better used doing anything else but watching this show. I'm sad to say that I didn't enjoy one minute of the show and I most certainly don't ever plan on watching another episode. I do, however, hope that they remove this show and put something better on its time slot.
  • This show grows on you.

When this show first aired I remember thinking how stupid it was, Courtney Cox trying to be a cougar was dreadful and painful to watch. I couldn't get through the first episode. But a few months later, I caught an episode of it after it was on after Modern Family, and it was pretty good. They had given up the shtick of making Jules a cougar (thank God), and were even making fun of themselves for their awful name choice. So overall, this isn't the greatest show ever made, and it wont get any more popular than it is now. But it's an okay show and I'm completely content with it.
  • Why is this show still on?

    "Abysmal"
I want to like this show but can't. (I've tried, really.) None of it really makes any sense and is essentially a waste of acting talent. Then, to follow a theme, ABC picks up "Mr Sunshine," again with actors who are all pretty decent in their own right (yes, that includes Perry). Bottom line, both shows, IMHO are totally "Friends gone bad." Maybe I'm getting old but "New Adventures of Old Christine" was pretty much my end level for over-the-top. Both Cougar Town & Mr Sunshine are so far out in the stratosphere that I find them unwatchable.
  • Disappointing show from Bill Lawrence

    2.0
    "Terrible"
Bill Lawrence may have written great TV shows such as Spin City and Scrubs but he come back with a disappointing show with Cougar Town. This show offers nothing new as you have Courtney Cox and Christa Miller doing silly dance routines like JD and Turk from scrubs, whilst JD and Turk may have pulled them off, Jules and Ellie look really stupid and old doing them and don't really have the chemistry the guys had.

Apart from making women look sad and desperate the show doesn't offer much and isn't even funny to watch. Courtney and Christa faces are too boxoted and just look wrong and in the second series Busy become too skinny and looks like a lollipop lady. The show seems to play on Jules character constantly being in skimpy clothes and makes out she looks good for her age but she would look a lot better fully dressed and if she dress appropriate for her age, as there a lot of trendy and well structure clothes for 40 year olds. Instead of finding the show funny as it plays on the stereotype of women from LALA land you kind of feel sorry for the three female characters, especially Jules.
  • THE funniest show on TV today. Excellent!

    "Perfect"
This is the one show on network TV that I truly will not miss. The cast is great, the writing is hilarious - pure escapism, meant to be flaky and light - EVERYBODY in this cast is dysfunctional in their own way, which makes it so amusing. Not sure why there are so many haters chiming in with their "reviews". Yes, they drink a little wine on the show, and yes, the sexual references are a little crude at times, but to me, these add to the "flaky" charm mentioned previously. Please keep this show on the air for many, many more years. It balances out the Wednesday night line-up on ABC perfectly. Keep up the great work cast and writers!
  • Recently dicorced Julia tires to balance her career, raising a teenage boy and reliving her missed 20's in this entertaining new series featuring Courtney Cox Arquette. A great ensemble cast and plenty of laughs.

    8.0
    "Great"
For anyone who is over 30 you will find humour in this ABC gem. Cougar Town is not the funniest show you will ever watch but it has moments of joy that are timeless and relateable. Recently divorced Julia is 41 and in the prime of her youth. Like so many of us who find themselves starting over, post 35, we follow Julia's hilarious tumble into an abyss dominated by 20 somethings and the uncomfortable adjustment period that comes right before acceptance.

Filled with countless zingers and one-liners - this is a show getting plenty of talk time at the office.

Courtney Cox is supported by a group of talented co-stars who help this show shine. A great adult show for those with a healthy inner-child.
  • Rocky start, but now found solid footing with their ensemble cast

    9.5
    "Superb"
I started watching the show because of Courteney Cox, but I stayed for the most wonderful offbeat, silly characters living in a cul-de-sac on television. The comedy is so light and fluffy and silly and spectacular, it's almost surprising and unnerving how poignant it can be sometimes when it wants to be. While many critics agree that the comedy seemed forced during the first half of season one, making it suffer in comparison to the critically-deemed flawless Modern Family, writers and creators of the show has readjusted the dynamics and found what truly works for this show...some of the best comedic actors on television playing off each other.

While this show may not always make me bust my gut laughing, it always manages to produce the widest smile on my face throughout an episode.

Will be sorely missed during the hiatus.
  • First I thought it would be a spinoff from Scrubs, including charactertypes Dr Madoxx and Jordan Sullivan. Instead Bill Lawrence created the second best thing: a brand new sitcom, which gather everything you've ever liked int a TV show!

    10
    "Perfect"
The 1st season was really about being a Cougar in Florida. Now, it's just getting bigger, making jokes of everything.

The main characters are the best for a sitcom, even actors/actresses, even the roles. Tho Courtney Cox and Christa Miller are giving their usual characters, the show uses it as benefits: the annoying, neurotic woman, Joules - Courtney - is just like Monica from Friends, and Ellie - Christa - is the same "biatch" as she were in Scrubs. But the characters are real, and the actresses are both giving their bests, adorable couple of BFF.

The male characters are mindblowing. Bobby, the always-jibblish-speaking-exhusband of Jules gets along now with the "crew" and just be a part of the whole story. Their kid, Dan Byrd is a bit old to play a 19yo collegenewbie, though he's already 25 now, but he gives a freakin awesome performance. Tom, the returning sidecharacter of a freak-like neighbour, from Scrubs, Dr Zeltzer just the touch of the crazy spice of Bill Lawrence's fantasy, to feel: you're not in America, nor in Florida. Or in the real world. You're in Cougar Town!
  • Great!

    "Perfect"
The best comedy since friends. The wit is fast and furious and my only criticism is that the dialogue is sometimes too quick for a "slow British ear" to 'get' straight away!

The relationships between all the main characters seem to have jelled effortlessly, and although this is pure escapism, I'd love to believe that I too could be part of the "Cul-de-sac Crew"! The will they/wont they sexual tension between Jules and Grayson (The gorgeous chap over the road - single, but with "issues") had me on the edge of my seat on a number of occasions, and I bet I wasn't the only person who let out an audible "awwww" when they kissed for the first time.

Lovely, easy watching tv - Bring on the new series!!!
  • I thought it would suck but it doesn't.

Turn your brain off for 30 minutes and relax. It's fun and funny. Don't try to make more of it. Sometimes you just want to couch crouch and stare for a while. But thought and action re plot and laughter cam distract from a good zone-out. You need breezy characters and stories that make no demands above third person voyeurism. It's like napping at a bud's place and only waking to catch the good stuff. You smile and snicker and drift back off until the next thing. I've heard that there are some who make it a 4:20 afternoon habit.
  • story revolves around Jules (Courtney Cox) who is a 40 something Cougar. (except she's not really).... the relationships she has with her friends and her son...

    "Perfect"
This show started off a bit slow for me but now its probably my favourite show. Its witty, funny and a little crazy... There is nothing else like it on tv, which makes it even better to me. Courtney Cox is great as Jules , but not the funniest character. There is such a great collection of other people on this show - i think you really need to watch it to see.

If you were a Scrubs fan then i think you'll love this show, it has similar dry comedy. People who don't like it - i don't understand. Brilliant show.
  • What happened Bill Lawrence?

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
Bill Lawrence, creator of both Spin City and Scrubs, really misstepped with this one. Spin City and Scrubs were both simmilar and different in their own hillarious ways. I love both of them to death becuause of their excellent ensemble casts who just seem to make everything gel with the help of superb writing. This show on the other hand is kinda a mix of the two by trying to be absurd and wacky like Scrubs and mainstream like Spin City but it doesn't work. The jokes are bland as well as the charecters I hope it could get better becuase Bill is a genius which he proved with those two shows. Another issue is the ratings of the show. Spin City was a huge hit and Scrubs was a hit in the begining but this show is falling quick in the ratings. I hope they could rebound next season.

This show is headed down hill. This was the most boring episode of the season. I thought the show was about humorous side of cougar life, certainly not this episode and the ex-husband's character has gone totally moronic. Put this show out of its misery soon. Put this show out of its misery soon. Put this show out of its misery soon. Put this show out of its misery soon. Put this show out of its misery soon. Put this show out of its misery soon. I watched this show when I was bored and I expected to hate it, but is really hard to stop watching. None of the characters are particulairy likable, but its their flaws that make you keep watching. This show is the good type of awkward where it remains funny no matter how uncomfortable the situation. Courtney Cox also looks fantastic for her age and not in a fake plastic surgery way that some stars do. Busy Phillips kills it in this show (even though her character reminds me of the same one she played in Dawson's Creek). The son and ex-husband also add a lot of comic relief. I hope the first season continues as well as it started.
  • A show most people either love to hate or are ashamed to love. Well, Cougar Town is the ONLY new comedy which delivers MORE than we bargained for.

    8.5
    "Great"
It's a stigma; after half-assed tries, are we really going to give Cox another chance? Come on. Cougars? Cheap sex trick to draw in viewers. I mean, who wouldn't be ashamed - this must be for the brainless, right? WRONG! Among all the big guns: the darlings Modern Family which is supposedly Arrested Development child but is NOTHING CLOSE, 30 Rock which was a sleeper hit before but is a hit-and-miss juggernaut now, Community, which is cute but too over-the-top, the mainstay 2 1/2Men (etc.) Cougar Town is the ONLY comedy which delivers MORE than we bargained for. It's supposed to be a dud. A flop. A cheap attempt at ... what exactly? But it's NOT. I was skeptical at first but the show is seriously winning me over. The writing is much better than it has any right to be and uses the most out of a sleeper situation. The sex is anything but - if you expected Cox (as many that are kicking this show surely are) to hop from one "fresh meat product" to another - sorry, no such luck. This is an honest mom - with complexes up to the rafters. The supporting cast is the best I've seen in a long time. Her son and her neighbors are positively fantastic in their roles. Even the over-the-top character of her ex-husband has that Forrest Gump vibe - he knows the serious, he just doesn't want to play there. There are shortcomings, of course, but all in all - a rough sexy gem of a comedy that should be allowed to grow even better.
  • End The Misery

    "Abysmal"
This show is horrible, ABC has to be kidding. Do you mean to tell me that ABC can't produce a better more funny show than this one. This is trash not even funny and storyline ran out after first two shows. ABC kill it already. If it wasn't for Modern Family prior I would never even subject myself to this while waiting till 10PM EST to arrive. If Criminal minds were on at 9:30PM EST I would not even waste the Flat screens energy on this show. Remove it quickly before you sink the whole hour between 9-10PM EST.
  • Started off good but degenerated.

    "Abysmal"
Sadly the show started out really well with the Cougar premise in the episodes then it got away from that and just became a show about three really ditzy women. The best part of the show are the male leads - very engaging.

Josh Hopkins is a great male lead and has starred in some very good shows he was especially good in "Swing Town". Brian Van Holt as the ex-hubby is a real treat he has a great guy character. All the men have a great relationship. Courtney Cox's character is totally irritating. Her blonde bimbo friend had a good thing going with "Smith" but blew it also. The son - played by Dan Byrd - is a treasure. He has actually had the most interesting sub-plots.

All in all they got away from the premise and deteriorated. There is absolutely nothing "Cougar" about Cougar Town.
  • Light entertainment...half past mediocre

    "Fair"
As a fan of horror movies, I'm familiar with Dan Byrd's work (The Salem's lot remake, the "Hills have Eyes' remake)and I had high hopes for Cougar Town when I sat down to watch tonight. What I feel I got was some light, mildly entertaining prime time fluff. There didn't seem to be anything exceptional or original or extraordinary about this show. Oh, one or two snappy one liners (her face made me want to take up boxing) that they played the hell out of during the promos for the show brought a ghost of a smile but that was about it. Standard middle of the week prime time fare. Ho hum.
