The amazing thing about this show is that it is the only show on TV that I know of, that could continue without the main character.

Courteney Cox as Jules Cobb is a one-joke character. She is the Cougar, and as such she is either feeling sorry for herself because she is alone (which will lead to making mistakes like sleeping with her ex) or she finds a male-friend a relationship which will always threaten to fall apart because of her insecurities.

(A relationship which will always be temporary, otherwise that's the end of the show for her character. I can't see Jules developing any further any time soon.)

This one-joke character was funny first episode, but it gets pretty boring pretty quickly.

The saving grace of the show, and indeed the source of the funniest of the humour, is the ensemble of characters around Jules. For me, therefore, it would be great if the producers and writers got rid of the annoying, self-pitying Jules and devoted more time to the other people around her. It'll be a better show.

Cougar town would be a much funnier show if you got rid of the cougar.moreless
  • After breaking up with Jeff, Jules is depressed and ends up sleeping with Bobby. Laurie feels guilty after she sleeps with Grayson because she finds out that Jules is Grayson's someday girl, but she sleeps with him again. Even Travis sleeps with Kylie.moreless

So this episode ends up being one big sleepover! Elle and Andy have sexy night. Jules and Bobby hook up after drinking some white wine with Koolaid mixed in. Nothing too white trash about that! Laurie and Grayson hook up twice and Laurie feels guilty each time. Finally 18 year old Travis and his girlfriend Kylie get together for the first time for each of them. Pretty sweet actually except for the quick gotta go in the morning!

Let's face it, like most sitcoms this episode was major fluff. At least it was enjoyable fluff. Like in real life the women all seemed to regret everything at least a little and the men were fine. Grayson, fine with the fact that he and Laurie got together despite the fact he could see himself with Jules eventually. Andy is always ready to go and Elle is just Elle the way she always is with Andy. Bobby rocking it over what happened with Jules. I don't think Jules regretted it at all actually, I just think she felt bad about having to let Bobby down in the end. Then poor Kylie, after the apology I'm sure she went back to not regretting getting together with Travis.

So nothing major and just a filler episode, but definitely an enjoyable episode with the whole gang involved. Romance with a splash of comedy. I'm pleased that Cougar Town along with it's Wednesday night mates, Modern Family and The Middle all got renewed for next season. Thanks for reading...moreless

  • QUOTES (10)

    ADD QUOTES
    • Laurie: I have to admit last night was pretty okay.
Grayson : That's weird, during you were very vocal about how good it was.
Laurie: Yeah, because it's not sexy to moan, "this is totally okay."

    • Bobby: So I slept with Jules. Look, I know you're the wrong guy to talk to… Grayson: Why does everyone think that I care about Jules? Look at me, I'm fine. Wanna talk about Jules let's talk about it. Bobby: I'm just not quite sure how I feel about it, you know? It's a lot like soccer that way.

    • Andy: Hey Trav, what'd you do last night? Travis: I was out with the fellas. Andy: Tell me their names. Travis: Willy, Seesaw, Mark, and Doug. Andy: Tell me again. Travis: Billy, Josh, Tad, and Crazy Joe. Andy: Saw you sneaking in this morning. You were out all night.

    • Grayson: No Jules, I don't think "sex with the ex" would be a great song. You know, it sounds like something an insensitive jerk would write. Someone who doesn't understand what their audience is truly thinking or feeling. No it's a bad song Jules, bad song. Jules: (to Ellie) That was odd. And he is wrong that would be an amazing song. Hey, you wanna jam out some lyrics? Ellie: What is with this stupid neighborhood and the song writing.

    • Grayson: Did you know Jules slept with Bobby? Laurie: 'Cause she was in a really bad place. Raise your hand if you can relate. (Both raise hand) Laurie: Wait, I only meant for me to raise my hand. You're a very hurtful person. Grayson: You know what? No one has to know what went on between us. Laurie: Agreed. Grayson: There's only one, tiny, bald, problem.

    • Andy: Why would I wanna keep that particular one for you? Laurie: Because if you tell it'll ruin all of our friendships. Andy: Getting sleepy. Grayson: We'll give you whatever you want. Andy: And I'm back. Alright, give me a sec. I want Bobby's bar tab cleared. Grayson: That's it? Andy: No, and I want him to know that I did it. And Laurie I want you… Laurie: To never tell Ellie that you saw me completely naked? Andy: (to Grayson) She's ruining it.

    • Andy: Did lover boy tell you he likes Jules? Laurie: What? Grayson: What? No. I just said someday I could end up with a girl like her. Laurie: Jules is your someday girl? Grayson: A what now? Laurie: A someday girl is someone who someday someone else can see themselves ending up with someday. It's really serious. Grayson: Someday girl is a great title for a new song.

    • Laurie: I have bad news. You're Jules' someday guy. Grayson: Sweet. Someday guy is a perfect follow-up to someday girl.

    • Andy: Lucky for you tonight is sexy night. I'm not allowed to speak, apparently it ruins the fantasy.

    • Laurie: What we did was totally natural. Like the wind or not trusting Canadians.

    • "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" was the first single from Stevie Nicks' debut solo album Bella Donna. It was written by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell as a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song, but Jimmy Iovine, who was also working Stevie Nicks at the time, arranged for her to sing on it.[1] Petty sang with Nicks in the chorus and bridge, whilst his entire band played on the song.
