I was appalled when I settled in to watch a new season of one of my favorite shows and over the course of the half hour I slowly came to accept that Jeff, one of the best TV characters of all time, was not saving his entrance to the end of the episode, but had been replaced by a new character, Oliver, who filled much the same role. However, to my amazement, I was soon laughing at Oliver's antics as hard as I ever had at Jeff's. Who would have thought?

So I pose you this question: Who would you rather see return in a hypothetical Series 5, Oliver or Jeff, or conceivably both(!)?

    I'd enjoy seeing both guys.

I adore Jeff and missed him in Series 4, but I enjoyed Oliver, and grew to enjoy him as his own geeky self, not as a Jeff-lite (which was how the writing appeared to play him.)I'm curious to see how things are for Oliver after the end of Series 4. (Not saying what in case you haven't seen the full run.)

Also, does anyone need a reason to want to check in on Jeff? *g*

I think after appearing in just one series that Oliver didn't fully connect to me. The first few episodes he appeared in, his storylines seemed to have been intended for Jeff. I never did get the impression that he fully connected with the other characters.

I'd love to see Jeff back in the show. He had some great lines. Steve had a dream about Jeff in the last episode - so Jeff may not appear as he did in the dream? I realise that it was a different actor portraying him. Hmmm... was that a spoiler for anyone? Sorry if it was!

I would want to work in the same office as Jeff, just to watch him, but Oliver is the kinda guy I would go to the bar with and hang

Oliver was kind of like "jeff lite" if you ask me.
He was his own person in a way, but just there for comic relief sort of.
    Jeff was just classic.

Really? for me it's no contest AT ALL!

    JEFF ALL THE WAY!

so cute and funny and crazy and lost and hilarious and perverse...so...Jeff.

To be honest I never really excepted Oliver, he felt too much like Jeff and wasn't half as funny on delivery alone... just my op!!!

    I heart Jeff

Jeff as a woman! How freaky wasn't that? Hahahaha, I want both Oliver and Jeff to be in the next season, but I don't think there's going to be one. And I definitley don't think Jeff is going to be there.

Jeff, only Jeff, and nobody else than Jeff. He is just one of the most original characters on TV shows... If Coupling ever comes back (although I lost my hope in this), it would be great if Jeff would return (of course, if the actor would want to return.)

Deffinately Jeff. I work at blockbuster in chesterfield, and i was unlucky enough to miss him when he came in. My friends got to meet him as he was renting a film for his mum, who lives bout 5 mins away. i was gutted.

I was horribly confused when I bought the entire Coupling series on DVD; Oliver was on the front but I had only ever seen Season 2. I was like "God, Jeff looks a bit odd..." Not in an ugly way, of course, just different. I thought they'd used a funny camera angle or something.

Can you believe one season of a show made me spend $100 on the entire series? Well, yes, you probably can.

Anyway, I must say that the adorable awkwardness and slight sexual perversion of Jeff won my affections; Oliver was cute, but he seemed like too much of a replacement Jeff to be his own character.

And, also, I have a soft spot for Welshmen.

Oh, God! Jeffina! I don't think I've ever laughed that much. And the woman who played him (
Samantha Spiro)... My God, was she good at that. The accent and the way she moved... everything. It really was like Jeff as a woman.

Jeff, no question. I liked Oliver once I got used to him, but Jeff was so unpredictable and I loved that.

Jeff was always my favorite part of the show. However, by then end of the final season I had adapted to enjoy Oliver. Of the two I would definitely prefer Jeff to return. But what would be (in my opinion) really great is if both met in an episode or two, and created the most awkward and hilarious situation you've ever seen.
