It begins with Faye complaining about the Bebop's shower. Her nagging of Jet leads to a question about his arm. Then an old partner of Jet's during his days with the ISSP, Fad, calls up wanting to team up with Jet one last time. Fad wants to go after a runaway prison ship that happens to be carrying an old enemy of Jet's, Udai Taxim, who used to be an assassin for the syndicate. Udai had something to do with Jet losing his arm. Jet at first refuses, but finally decides that this is something he must do.moreless
  • Straying away from Spike and Faye, this episode revolves around Jet and his painful past...and it is just as good.

What could you say about "Black Dog Serenade" other than wow?
Taking a break from Spike & Fayes's past, it's main focus is Jet, and him coming to terms with the past.
From the 'Coming Episode' you can obviously tell it's dealing with old friends and enemys.. and of course, the possible hint of betrayal.
Sometimes it seems as though Jet isn't as heroic or exciting as Spike, but after seeing this episode, it will all change.
Many questions about Jet, his arm, and his past are brought into context.
Though this episode doesn't deal with the usual formula, it is still a huge achievement, and deserves recognition.
You will never think of Jet Black the same way again.moreless
