While Spike is watching television he comes across a religious organization called Scratch, whoes leader had quite a huge bounty because he leads his followers to commit suicide, so the crew of Bebop go off to try to find Dr. Londes in order to collect the bounty on him.moreless
  • There is a new religion or cult deal sprouting up in TV, called SCRATCH. The leader, Londus, gathers people to be his followers and then makes them do his bidding. There is quite a shocking twist at the end though that might explain everything to you. Swemoreless

    "Perfect"

    This is one of those episodes that really make you think. That even in uncertain times that TV is the only comfort most people have. People could actually start a cult purely out of television. The episode was actually pretty meaningful, as it showed hoe people can be manipulated by material possessions. I like this episode because it gets to the bottom of what people truly feel is their escape hole from reality.moreless

    • Heaven's Gate Many of the details in the episode resemble the events of Heaven's Gate, a religious organization whose followers committed mass suicide on March 26, 1997 to coincide with the appearance of comet Hale-Bopp. Dr. Londes resembles leader Marshall Applewhite. Jet uses the pseudonym Marshall Banana. The statutes of SCRATCH, including denial of the flesh body, resemble the precepts of Heaven's Gate.
